Much work for little credit seems to be a theme here. All I have to say is welcome to Biology. If you can't handle it, perhaps you shouldn't have gone to college.

Journet is a bit misunderstood. He's a nice guy who is passionate about what he teaches; he just doesn't seem to know exactly how to teach it without putting people to sleep. Be prepared to look at graph after graph after graph. Tests are tricky. Interesting guy...not the greatest professor. BUT you CAN actually learn from him if you pay attention

He is a good man to have in the world and I think he does more for the environment than most could ever hope to, but he is one of the worst teachers I've ever had. I almost never knew what was going on and he wasn't very clear in what he was assigning or when he was assigning it. The book was only a little useful, but you still HAVE to read it.

He loves to hand out these large worksheet packets called "labs" They are easy but extrememely tedious for a one hour course. P.S. Don't ever skepticise about Global Warming to him... He will rant on it the rest of class, very closed minded to say the least.

Take a TA, definitely. This class is not at all hard, but the work tends to get long and is incredibly repetitive, and it's easy to get sick of it. The best thing about this class is that you can get 20 bonus points for going to one lecture outside class and writing one page about it.

Dr. Journet spent an extraordinary amount of time making this course enjoyable and informative. I love his personal conviction to helping his students learn. Who says Biology/ecology is supposed to be easy and without a lot of work?

Ok first of all, I took the TA....SMARTEST DECISION OF MY LIFE. we had the same work (A LOT) but she explained it really well and changed assignments to make things easier on us. I feel like I learned so much more. OH yea and NO TESTS OR FINAL! just a group presentation. Its pretty nice when you're trying to study for all of your finals.

HOLY HOMEWORK!!! If you want to do an outrageous amount of homework, then take him. I don't know how he is in his other classes but waaaaay too much homework for 1 credit hour. Bad thing is he's the only one who teaches BI152 (main teacher even if yours is really a grad student).

Take the TA!! I had the TA and not Journet, and I got lucky. From what I know about Journet, he is very, very weird. The class is so damn pointless and is irritating because of all the bs work. Very time consuming. Overall the class is easy if you have the TA.

This class was pretty much pointless. I felt like I was a freshmen in high school again. The class is pretty easy but there is soooo much busy work. I would suggest taking the TA instead of Journet. He's a little too serious about the class. His tests are pretty difficult and he grades hard.

Take the TA. I have never gotten so much busy work in my life. It is completely rediculous. Why haven't they fired this guy yet? He's nice, but the class is useless.

I have him as a teacher and have learned so much about the way I have viewed everything, this class has completely changed the way I now think! It is Biology and you do have to use your brain. All the work is meaningful, and this class is an easy A! Journet's awesome,I don't know what you all are whining about, other than being lazy!

TAKE THE TA. Our TA was so awesome, she made class fun. We got the info we needed and were out usually in less than an hour. Journet makes you stay the entire time. I don't know how he could drag out that class to last 2 hours, but take the TA if you can. The class is basically busy work, but as long as you do it, you'll get an A.

Definitely take the TA if you can. The class is really easy, takes no effort really. Hardest thing is midterm/final and own experiment. On the first day I had 40 pages of homework though. LOTS of homework until there's 4 weeks left.
