Assigns both text and webassign homework. Doesn't really cover a lot of material in class, so most of the material will have to be self-learned. He does have office hours. He also expects you to know most of the material somehow.

One of the best math professors I've ever had. Convinced me to switch from Engineering to Mathematics. He doesn't make you feel stupid or inferior for asking questions, but at the same time keeps the class on the same page. Great at giving examples for every type of question you're expected to know, as well as helping students of all learning types

Smartest mathematician I have had the pleasure of learning from. His knowledge of math inspires me to learn more so I can one day think about analysis the way he does. Homework is very difficult and the tests are slightly less difficult. Presentations are intimidating, but they enjoyable to watch and perform.

hands down best math professor ever. always came to class prepared, answers any question at the beginning of the class, monotonous tone but crystal clear, and easy to understand. yes, prepare to work in this class as he gives many assignments and puts hard questions on the exams. he made it easy for me to deeply appreciate calculus.

Awesome professor. He's extremely helpful if you ask and will take as long as you need to go over things. His tests are extremely similar to the study guide, fair grader, and flexible with homework. Definitely recommended.

Incredible Professor. I have never had a math professor that is able to be as clear as he is sometimes in defining complex ideas. Is prepared for every class and maintains a friendly and relaxed classroom environment. Has a very good feel of how well the class is interpreting. In these ways, he truly is a gifted professor. Do take classes withhim

Best math prof I've had yet. Clear and mostly easy to understand.Fair amount of homework but in these classes you need to practice anyway. I hope I get the chance to take him again.

This man is a very poor teacher. The way he grades the class makes it VERY easy for students to fail. He's like a math magician: he does tricks, and like any good magician, he never does the same trick twice, and never tells you how he did it. Very deadpan, emotionless, and unforgiving professor. Avoid unless you can preform on a masters level.

lots of homework. moves fast. maybe 4 ppl in the class really understood what was going on before the exams. He picks the most difficult problems from the book (which is kinda good). Also, very nice guy, funny, lots of office time, interesting, brilliant, challeging, HSU Math Dept is the real deal.

Explanations of material sometimes left a lot to be desired. His teaching style and my learning style didn't match. Offers extra credit, which can be a life-saver. Not a lot of partial credit on tests.

Prof. Freedman is an asset to HSU Mathematics. Though his teaching style may not suit those not comfortable with learning the language of mathematics, he is, without an effective teacher. His exams are as advertised and his grading lenient to say the least. If you are interested in learning math, his class is the right place to be.

I loved Walden. Had him for 110 & 210, & I found his classes organized, decently challenging, & rewarding. If you are a linear & visual learner Walden is great for you, he is a great 3D drawer. He'll make you laugh. Grading was fair. He won't baby you and he knows his stuff so for those complaining about him being condescending, get thicker skin :)

Walden is a wonderfully organized teacher. Extremely helpful and funny. I think the students who rate him poorly don't care about math as much as the kids who are at the top of the class which is why it seems he plays favorites. If you are willing to learn he is willing to teach. He's an awesome teacher as well as an all around awesome guy.

I felt more condescension from Walden than any other teacher, but the man is like an interactive textbook. The weekly-due homework was nice, he grades fairly and I felt comfortable going for help during office hours. I recommend him for serious math students, for those trying to get past math quickly and painlessly, consider someone else.

Great professor. Would always ask if students have questions before moving on to new material. Expects you to work hard, but grades fairly, is organized, and is very available for outside class help. Can be funny, and has a great attitude. He really enjoys teaching, loves math, and wants you to understand the material. Highly recommend.

uggh, can't believe they kept this guy. be prepared to defend your proofs, this guy seems to have a hard time understanding them even if they're correct. definitely likes you to kiss his ass, and if you don't, well....
