She is a very good teacher, but only if you actually put in the work and apply yourself to the class. I started off failing the first 3 exams, decided it was time to take it a bit more serious, and got some help studying and actually LEARNING the material. 100% on the 4th exam and a 91% on the final to pass with a B-. APPLY YOURSELF, she helps.

Organized lectures relevant to what is on the test. Provides feedback quickly for assessments. Does not deviate from the syllabus, expectations are made clear from the first day of class. Makes physics tolerable during the early morning hours.

Very good professor. Talks a lot and can't manage time well but gives you cribs that are a lot like the test and returns them in two class days. Definately one of the best in PHYS.

Cares about students and wants you to do well. Very helpful and gives lots of partial credit so show your work. Understand the mastering physics and the worksheets handed out and you will do fine. Tough grading scale though - need 96% to get an A.

Really cared if you learned the material. Loved her teaching style. Tests were tough, but as long as you show up to class, do the homework, and study (groups were more helpful), you won't have problems.

recommended for Phys1. Teaching style is very clear, and test questions are straightforward. No new material pops up on tests, and she hands out her own cribs, which are helpful, but don't rely on them. Svinarich is a very good and very helpful professor. She is always willing to answer questions, and is really focused on helping students do well.

She is very straight forward. Gives examples during class that are related to test problems. She doesn't pull any tricks. She is ALWAYS more than willing to meet with you outside of class if you need help. However she is kind of vague when it comes to material that is going to be on the test.

Gives many examples during class. Pretty laid back. Tells you to read the text book, but it's not a big deal. Tests really aren't too bad. I'd recommend for Phys 1.

Comment:
Svinarich has a unique style of communicating the material to students. She often uses demonstrations to help explain concepts and solves plenty of examples on the board. However, her tests are difficult because she will often throw "curve balls". She does give plenty of partial credit so make sure you know concepts well.

DO the worksheets, very important, DO the Mastering Physics, cuz its the only practice u have for the exams. STUDY the old exams she has in the library, and DO NOT MISS CLASS. each class is literally one problem on the exam. get high grades going into the final cuz you will die then. 88 (80%) going in 83(20%)final grade. 30% dropped class by wk 4.

She tends to put problems on the test that are extremely different from the problems on MasteringPhysics, the homework site. She doesn't curve grades so one screwup can mess up your whole grade. She gives four tests and they account for more than 65% of the grade in the class.

I had this professor in phys I and really enjoyed the class. However, in physics II you can study her notes, look at old tests in the library, and study your mastering physics. Just don't expect any of it to be on your test. Class will teach you the ABC's, but tests are definately not over the ABC's. I retract my previous recomendation!

Very nice person and good professor. You have to do your work and follow the lectures (by attending class of course) and study hard and you'll do well. As the first engineering class she teaches the basics necessary to move on. Always approachable and helpful.
