Nice guy. Very accessible, responds to emails on the weekends. Clearly wants his students to succeed. Class is (heavily) curved. Slides, etc. have errors - but didn't really bother me bc If someone brings it to his attention he fixes them ASAP. My expectations for this class were low. It's a lot of work but really has not been that bad.

He's really tough on students. One of my classmates had a car accident so that missed the first 20 mins of the Class therefore Philip did not even allowing her to take the quiz... I would say he's not caring student at all. Moreover, he's not even clear about the content he's teaching, multiple mistakes in his slides.

He is super impatient outside the class. He does not provide any office hour expect for an online virtual office hour, which only lasts one hour. His course is not difficult, but the way how he tests us in the lab assignment was terrible. He provides no detail info on how to be right! His grading rule is unclear, and his attitude is always dicourag

This class was unbelievably hard. Good luck getting an A unless you cheat. Has no office hours, only "virtual" hours where you have the pleasure of listening to everyone else's concerns as well as dogs in the back ground. Get your code ready in advance for the quizzes as this guy doesn't give you any time should you make mistakes. Avoid!!!

Phil Wirtz calimns to knwo about experiment design and views himself as a gatekeeper for doctoral students. His statistics knowledge is limited, he's a frequentist, wouldn't know a bayesian model if it hit him in the head, and is not terribly suportive of his stidfents He is a very insecure quite incapable statistician

Not sure what to make of this guy, he seems nice, but maybe slightly delusional. He tries to help but his expectations are far beyond unreasonable. It's a shame that most of us are learning how to pass the class and not necessarily the material itself.

Comment:
Professor has unrealistic expectations for full-time MBAs. He assigns an enormous amount of readings, assessments, quizzes, and assignments. If students don't complete everything, he sends multiple emails with a harsh tone. The quizzes test speed, not knowledge. Class material is tough, but with a more patient professor, it can be managed.

This is one of the best professor I ever had. I wish I could take his classes over and over. I still consult the notes from the two courses I took over 14 years ago when I need to refresh my stat skills.

Professor Wirtz teaches a material that is interesting but is very cryptic in his explanations. Examination material may be alien to what you have seen in the lectures. The point is to make you feel like you need a lot to know -- even when you're done with the class.

He is good professor, No doubt but his exams are beyond difficult. There will be many undiscussed questions in exam. He is lazy because he prepared our exam on winter break and he could not cover "multicollinearity" chapter before midterm but we had questions from that chapter and he covered that chapter after midterm but there was'nt a single quest

He is the best professor ever. I read the comments, people say the expectations are high and course is demanding. But he himself explains these very clearly at first class, if you don't like it you can withdraw. Yes it is a demanding class, but he is the best teacher ever, he teaches very well, very clear, he is extremely helpful and all he wants i

I totally agree with most of the assesment. he is utterly tough in gradinG TO THE EXTENT THAT HE WILL TAKE YOUR GRADE DOWN EVEN FOR ARITHMATIC ERRORS,,, he is deceptive in that he expects us to know several extentions and modification of concept he teaches. He is a good teacher but just expects toooooooooooooooooooooooo much.

Professor Wirtz is one the best professors and teachers I have ever met. In this particular class, he used a lot of technology taping lectures, so if you miss a class you have a chance to catch up and hear the actual lecture. He is extremely helpful in understanding statistics in general and SAS in particular. AAA+ professor!
