Professor Aldrete is a great professor and always passionate about class. He is extremely knowledgable and always willing to answer any questions. The whole class is lecture and discussion but it is fast paced and keeps the mind going. Plus Aldrete has a wicked strike of humor that gets everyone laughing!

Aldrete is a great professor! He re-sparked my love for History and inspired me to declare my major in history. The class I took with him was engaging and interesting and he really knows his stuff; if you ask him virtually any piece of trivia about ancient history, he will most likely know the answer. Truly a great professor!!

I hate history, but I loved this class! The lectures are fun and I learned a lot! He is able to relate old situations to modern day. You definitely need to go to class, because he doesn't put any notes online. He grades really quickly (as in the same day you take the test), and the quizzes on the readings are fairly easy if you did the reading.

Great professor. If you need to wipe out your humanities requirement take this class. Lectures are very interesting and the exam material comes straight from the lectures. There are readings you have to do, and make sure to actually do them. There is a quiz on nearly all of them. This class is an easy A IF you go to class and read the readings.

Even if you aren't much of a history buff, TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! Aldrete really knows how to keep his class interested. The reading is minimal because he only uses primary sources that he put together in a textbook that's more similar to a notebook. The only downside of this class is that you will end up taking about eight pages of notes each class.

Show up to pass. Professor Aldrete is just overall, great. He has his own short textbook. You read the short stories and there are easy quizzes on them. He puts up key words & you need to know them for the exam. Please show up, he is passionate about his job! Best professor I've had so far! Hate history, left loving what I learned!

He's an amazing history professor. Lectures feel like you are listening to a story and are very enjoyable. Expect to take a lot of notes since there is no textbook that he follows. Also, the readings can be tricky and he gives pop quizzes on them so make sure you understand them thoroughly. The exams are straight from lecture. Def. recommend!

Amazing lectures. Makes history very interesting. Take notes, study, and get an A. Tests are pretty easy - 3, non-cumulative multiple choice. $10 textbook is great. Gives about 10 mini quizzes at the start of class to check if you did the reading. They are usually easy, and only your best 8 count. I would highly recommend this professor!

THE best professor I've ever had and probably will ever have. I wish he taught more courses because I would literally take all of them no matter what they were. His classes are just lectures but I don't know what he does to make them interesting but they're like watching a film or something. If you don't like history you will after this.

Clear and concise. He does 99% verbal lectures with just a list of vocab to focus on written on an overhead. He's very thorough but keeps to the course material most of the time.

Absolutely fantastic professor. Teaches his class like a story in a sense, and makes history sound like the coolest thing in the world. Readings are out of a course pack, not really a text book, and most of them are actually interesting and relevant to the material. Would recommend to pretty much everybody as a gen ed.
