He's based in a lecture hall and yet he doesn't speak loud enough, so it's very difficult to understand him regardless if you are in one of the few front rows. He also teaches in a style that is based on what comes to his head, and makes learning somewhat confusing. Be sure to read the books he assigns, get notes from a friend and you will pass

Umm, do not take him! As someone who nerds out over different cultures, I was looking forward to Anthro but was SO disappointed. TAs run the class (he rarely comes)we mainly watch old videos form the 30's, read bland books, & are lectured about old white mennothing interesting really. He is just cashing in on his seniority & needs to retire soon.

Everyone says Judkins is a tough professor, but if you go to class, read all of the books and watch the movies it's an easy A. You MUST write down a lot of what he says because it will be on the test.

This class was like nothing Ive ever took. Very vague about what we were being graded on. Ended up being 50% midterm and 50% final with participation affecting grade also. The exams ended up being fair if you keep up with readings and discussion, except he doesnt give good feedback

Incredibly boring lectures but if you don't go you won't know what to expect on tests. Doesn't show up most of the time (has the TA's show movies and proctor tests). Reading material isn't ridiculous. Gives you an automatic 95 on the final essay if you follow his prompts. Easy A.

Dr. Judkins is pretty laid back. No main textbook, but read two smaller books on the pygmies and the Navajo. Lectures are kind of dry, but straight forward. He tells you when something is important and what you should be writing down, which is almost word for word on the tests, which are very easy to study for. Easy gen ed to pass and get an A.

Judkins is a fantastic professor that is respected as he is smart. His classes are really not that hard, but you need to show up to them and pay decent attention. His papers are really short, because he usually doesnt like grading long ones. Only downside is that he has a monotonous voice, but if you can get past that you'll be fine. He's hilarious

You need to read a ton of material and well. You cant miss class because he goes over exactly what he will be putting on the test but really likes to ask questions on things you literally havent talked about. He doesnt do power points so its all lecture. Talks quietly and fast and spews at you. This class would be great if it wasnt with him.

Dr. Judkins is a very wise person. As one of the longest working professors in New York State he is very knowledgeable and used to the way a college operates. He's fairly forgiving but if you don't do the reading it shows. Read the books he assigns, they are good pieces of literature. After the 74 years that he has been around he knows what counts

He's nice I guess, but sooo boring and he speaks way too quietly. Sit in the first few rows or you can't hear him. The material is somewhat interesting but his lectures are terribly boring because he's so quiet and monotone. Tests are averagely easy, but go to every class because they're based 100% off his lectures and the book you have to read.

The class is basically story time, I sat back and listened to him talk about the things he liked and he told stories. He gives a good amount of reading but most of it you can basically skim because he only cares if you got the main points. If you listen to what he says and repeats you will be just fine. He is an easy grader too.

Straight up, don't waste your time taking this class with Judkins. It's unnecessary stress and way too much work for a 100 level anthro class. He lectures in this monotone voice the entire class and majority of the time you can't understand what he's saying, but insists he can't use a powerpoint for his lectures?

BORING!!! The tests are hard! You don't have to go to class if you have notes from someone else. This man has taught the same stuff since he popped out of the womb it sounds like. TAs help a lot so use them!!

the actual class content is really interesting, but he is so boring. he teaches from the top of his head, no powerpoints or anything, his TA's basically do everything for him. his tests aren't hard though if you go to class and read the book, so my advice is to make friends in the class, so that you can always skip and not miss anything.

Prof. Judkins is very passionate about anthropology. I, unfortunately, am not. His lectures are very dry, and it is hard to tell what to write down because there is no plan as to what is going to happen. Make sure you do the reading for the tests. One easy paper at the end of the year due on the day of the final.

Lectures are just him talking, no powerpoints. Has you read a bunch of books for the cultural elements but then tests you on plot. Judkins is not a very involved prof. TA's run review and answer questions. I would try to take the class with other a different prof

Terrible class. He has the most monotone voice you have ever heard. Classes aren't organized or planned. He just blabs on about whatever comes to his mind, and then tests on those "lectures". Tests are super detailed and difficult. Assigned books are dull, and videos watched in class are okay. Avoid taking this class if possible

Comment:
This class was painful. He's such a dry lecturer and literally will repeat the same stuff ten times but then it won't be on the test. He doesn't speak loud enough for the entire lecture hall to hear him and has two TAs but doesn't actually use them at all. I literally never want to take any other class with him ever again.
