Comment:
Prof. Kosko may be a respected researcher, but his does not respect his students and flat out can't teach. He berates students over zoom, can't work technology and can't stay on topic. He really needs to be kept in check by the department, but somehow has tenure. His condescending attitude is the epitome of "I became a professor to research only"

The professor is responsible. He spent a lot of time proving the fundamental theories which is really helpful. Though the lecture would always be 5 hours long, the exams are not hard. By the way, discussion sections clearly explained some examples which are similar to the exams(weekly and final exams).

Amazing Lecture on probability, you feel much more confident after his class ! I understand some students who have given bad reviews because of the lengthy class time. It is supposed to be 4 hours but he usually extends it to 5.5 hours ! For me it is still worth it. Homework is EXTRA CREDIT. Quizzes and Finals are very fair and not difficult.

My experience: The lecture which originally was supposed to last for 4 hours always lasted for 5 hours or more. But he spent most time telling some stories instead of valid derivation and serious definitions. The over 40 pages lecture notes were fancy but he only elaborated less than 10 pages in the last 2 hours every week. No space here, I stop :)

If you take his class, just be careful. Maybe you will get PTSD. He is one of the most conceited professor in the EE department. He speaks very fast, and does not care about wether you understand his words at all.

Kosko is the most arrogant and conceited college professor I have ever taken a class with. Would not recommend.

Doesn't talk about the lesson contents at all. Never take his class. You will waste money and time, ending up with learning nothing.

Your grad school education is not complete at USC if you don't take this course. He makes you go back to the basics and build yourself a strong foundation. Amazing!

For one he makes you work for the grades, Weekly Quizes(60% of the grade) and weekly homework. Finals are easy as they are mostly based on weekly tests. Miss the class and discussion and you will definitely lose track as to what is happening. Gives good grades in the end provided you do decently in the weekly tests and submit all the homeworks,

Better take the same course under some other prof, he is focused on phd candidates, so a masters student feels left out. I feel the same will be true for all the courses he teaches. Makes everything look super complicated; although he gives you strategies to remember stuff. Take his class if you can work very hard or have very strong fundament

Pretty awesome professor. I would totally recommend taking a class under him. You want to get used to his speaking though...its actually friendly, but it might come accross as tough. Personally, I can totally identify with him.(Ya, think a modern version of Conan, with degrees in tons of subjects).

What a dreadful instructor. He clearly doesn't care at all about whether the students understand the material and spends all his time outside of class trying to be some kind of talking head.
