Professor Mcclave is the type of educator all instructors should aspire to be. The material isn't easy, but she explains it and practices it with us in such a way that everyone would learn in class. The things she teaches are applicable out of class and have helped me when I write for other courses. She is sweet and openminded, a gem at CSUN.

Professor McClave was AMAZING. Makes the material easy to understand and really take time to know her students. Personally introduces herself to every student in the class on the first day. Hands down one of the BEST teachers I have every had in my college career. I could rant but just take my word for it. She was great.

Professor McClave is the BEST! I have taken her for two semesters, and she is just awesome. On the 1st day of class she personally introduces herself to every single student, and memorizes your name. Her grading is clear and to the point. Tests can be a little rough, but she gives detailed study guides that tell you what will be on the test.

She's awesome. No homework, her quizzes can be tough, but she drops the lowest one, participation is important to her, but she makes you feel comfortable and you can ask your classmates for help. She has a textbook for the class but I never opened it. She provides handouts and another text through email which you will use every day of class.

ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS AT CSUN!, great lectures!, she makes everyone participate however if you don't know the answer you can ask your classmates for help and she will never embarass anyone in front of the class. No HW, 5 quizzes, one mid term and one final. Gives extra credit questions on the tests and drops lowest quiz score. MUST TAKE !

Professor McClave is absolutely fabulous! She is engaging and very sweet, but beware, she will make you participate. However, the participation truly helps you understand the material, it really helped me at least! There isn't any homework but you have quizzes and two tests; midterm and final. MUST TAKE HER CLASS!

She is so helpful. And she will never make you feel stupid like most other professors. I never participate in class but in this class I love to.

She's such a sweet person who really cares about bettering the perspectives on language. She gives out three exams 100points each and they're not cumulative. She really wants to go over something and make everyone understand before she moves on. And on top of that she'll remember your name regardless of class size.

Professor McClave makes grammar relatable, enjoyable, and (much to my surprise) fascinating. She doesn't judge students, but rather meets them at the level they're at and tries to help them understand the concepts and material through many helpful, in-class practice exercises. Simply one of the best professors you will ever take.

She is seriously the best professor I've ever had. This was my second class with her. Evelyn truly cares about her students, she wants us to do well and to understand the material and will make sure that she does everything she can do to ensure just that. If you have the choice to take any class by her I 100% recommend it!

Prof McClave is very knowledgeable in the world of Linguistics. She is/was the chair of the department. She accepts all students, and is more than willing to change her teaching style/methods to help a student succeed. Hardest part of class was pronunciation and reading the phonetic alphabet. Memorize it and you'll do great.

She was an awesome professor. Very helpful, down to earth, and wants everyone to understand the material. She really cares about her students and is more than willing to help you outside of class. And the class itself really isnt that hard. Study and ask questions and you'll do fine. I promise! :)
