Comment:
Professor Gishlick is more of an old-school professor. He is very lecture heavy but he is a very fair grader, he curves his test to where the student can pass by getting less than half correct. Usually exams are 30 M/C questions. If you like learning on your own, he is the one for you. He would grade them so if you got 25/30, it would be a 100.

I don't understand all these bad ratings. Easiest class!! Yes, he is an old-school professor and doesn't use technology but his class is straightforward. He grades based on 3 exams and some assignments which he actually goes over in class so if you pay attention you get them done with no effort. Tests are hard but everything is in the textbook.

Does not teach at all. Luckily my friend was really good at economics so I basically helped me with the homework, but goes over in class before you hand it it. Curves tests by a lot of points because everyone does bad or at most okay. The tests are mc questions so at least you have a shot at guessing. Very nice guy probably cause he is in his 80s.

Gishlick's classes are torture to sit through. All he does is ramble about irrelevant topics. He doesn't actually teach the content, and expects you to teach yourself through the textbook. Have a question? DON'T ASK. He'll criticize you for not understanding. Doesn't use canvas or technology in general, so you'll never know your grade. AVOID!

He is a pleasant man, however, he is a terrible professor. Class is unorganized and you can tell when the rambling stops and the class starts. Instructions and lessons are unclear and class is a labor to attend. Sitting through this class is mind numbing.

Professor Gishlick is extremely knowledgeable, and really knows economics, too bad he refuses to share that information with the class. Professor Gishlick expects you to understand topics perfectly just by reading the textbook. If you have questions in class he will ridicule you then tell you to read the textbook instead of answering your question.

He goes off topic extremely often and is even difficult to understand at times because he speaks too softly. No one listened in the class. You basically have to teach yourself. He doesn't use Canvas so you never know what your grade is in the class. The only good thing about him is that he curves the exams.

His lectures were all over the place so I didn't listen at all. If you read the textbook and do the homework you can do well, but it takes a lot of effort. Khan Academy helped a lot. His tests were kind of difficult too, but again, just read the textbook.

He seems like a good guy but he's a terrible professor. Hasn't updated his teaching style in probably 40 years, his tests were originally written by a type writer. He loses his train of thought really easily and rambles. You're better off going with another professor, get tutoring asap if you do have his as a prof.

Great course, you have to work for the grade but he is fair with exams,(doesn't grade out of the full number of questions). learned a lot and he was funny in an old-timey way, would take again.

I had to take this course as a core requirement and the professor made Micro a little more interesting. You don't need to participate at all in class all he does is talk which gets pretty boring sometimes. His tests are pretty hard but if you follow his lectures and do the homework you should be fine because he curves the tests.

This class is a very challenging/ uninteresting class because the professor makes easy concepts much difficult for students. He write all over the blackboard which is confusing to understand the topic. Understanding him is impossible! The only way to succeed in this class is to make your own notes from the textbook.

Use the textbook and teach yourself because he doesn't teach anything. Understanding his aimless though process is impossible. If you get stuck with him, take your own notes from your textbook, and pray that you won't fail the test...

The only way I passed his class was reading the book and making my own notes. The notes he writes on the board are all over the place to where you get confused really fast. The actual Macroeconomics class material is simple, but he makes it difficult. Do his reviews, and try and to teach yourself when it comes to the homework assignments.

Despite all the flak this guy gets, he's what a college professor should actually be. A class that challenges you but you learn a lot from. Yes its hard but if you put in the work you will get an A. Plus he curves exams by 20 points. If you're not an econ major tho, maybe take someone else. Also he's very averse to technology.

One of the worst professor's I have ever had. He makes easy concepts much harder than they need to be. Goes on very long tangents throughout class that has nothing to do with class material. Do not take Gishlick if you have a choice!

He makes mistakes when giving lectures, confuses students. Takes way too long on basic material and makes the basic material harder than it has to be. Better off learning from the book and do other work in class. If you do take him, just do your homework in class, he goes over the homework before you hand it in. Don't take him if you can avoid it.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Not only is the man boring and lectures for the entire class, but doesn't teach out of the textbook, so you never know what exactly to study. His tests look like he copied and pasted questions out of a newspaper. Very confusing and uninteresting.
