This teacher is useless concerning this class. I took him hoping to have insight since people mentioned he was extremely smart. But he was totally useless. Take a different professor if you want to learn anything new or useful.

Professor Ruffin made International Trade a truly enjoyable experience. He was relatively concise and clear about the models and formulae we used. Exams were straight forward multiple choice as were the pop quizzes. His teaching style and personality was pretty unique, but still very enjoyable.

A lot of reading is required, and is not always covered in class. Tests were essay, not overly difficult unless u didn't read then u had no chance. He curves, and if u improve your test grades he tends to weight the final grade towards the later tests. Not a gimme class. Read and go to class, which are interesting u will do well

Roy Ruffin seems to know what he's talking about but he doesn't know how to properly convey that information to his students. The generation gap between the students and him is too great. He treats students like they are idiots. I've never failed a class, especially an economics course, but I had to drop his class so it wouldn't affect my GPA!

He's very difficult, but if you attend his class, read the book and go to tutoring then you should have no problem making a B or above.

Ruffin knows what he is talking about. However, he thinks that we are graduate students, and the class I took with him is just a undergraduate class. Nice guy. Tough class.

Initially the class seemed easy. He does give pop quizzes. You will know when he comes in with a stack of papers. He totally dislikes talking while he is lecturing. When you are asking for help, he appears to be disinterested in assisting his students. He knows the topic but he fails at explaining things during class.

Ruffin knows his stuff probably too well; it seems he thinks everyone knows what he's talking about. Tests are difficult, but he is available to clarify during office hours, which i made good use of. the main thing is to know the concepts, graphs and formulas. Hard class but you can do well. I got an A-.

Ruffin has a habit of going off on tangents and usually ends up ranting about something (the media, government, etc). his rants were the only reason i stayed awake in his class, they were awesome and hilarious

If you succeeded with 2304 and 2305, then this class will be a breeze, If you struggled with micro/macro, do NOT take this class.

Enthusiastic and really smart - he doesn't "dummy down" the material so if you aren't really interested in economics you will do badly. He presents the material very well considering the difficulty level.

One of the most intellegent professors you will ever have. But be aware of this...since he is so smart you have to be well prepared when you ask him a question. If you think about your question(s) ahead of time he is wonderful and extremely helpful.
