He's the absolute worst to the point where if students ask, I'll tell them to take literally any other class

easily one of the hardest professors I have ever taken. During the pandemic we basically had to teach ourselves the entire material, and there was almost no interaction with him. Students basically made the quizzes, and it was all quizzes and reading(PowerPoint/book). Be prepared for upwards of 80-100 pages of reading on top of your other classes.

This past semester because of the corona virus Dr. Weets' riddles of the past class was asymptotic. For every class we got an email saying what we had to do and when it was due. No late work was accepted whatsoever and his syllabus was hard to understand. I almost failed halfway through the semester because of not having any lectures at all.

I wish I read these reviews before taking this class because all of them are true. Easily the worst professor at SUNY Potsdam. He did nothing to accomidate his class after the pandemic, and expected us to teach all of the curriculum to ourselves. Avoid taking this class at all costs.

I took ANTH100 with professor Weets and he was by far the worst professor I've ever had. His "projects" are pop quizzes and he does them at the end of class when you have 5 minutes before you have to leave. He never answers emails and is very boring when he is giving lectures. Avoid taking a class with him at all costs.

Before coronavirus, he was mostly incredibly boring. Told me that he refused to put the slides online (to print), despite me needing them to learn. Now that we're online for quarantine, his method of "teaching" is DOING EXACTLY THAT. He is just putting the slides up, then giving us lengthy, timed exams, weekly. No teaching. Just testing. Pathetic.

The class is entirely built on rambling lectures. Typically, I can deal with this, but often the lectures are breathless. Taking notes feels more like working as a court reporter than a student. His "projects" are actually pop quizzes. Doesn't check his email. If you're not free for his office hour, good luck ever accessing him.

Easily the worst professor at SUNY Potsdam. Avoid taking any classes with him if possible. Very rude, his projects are pop quizzes, and VERY boring. I dont think he deserves the job. Cant even do an evaluation on him at school because he doesnt hand them out. Probably because he knows they will all be bad.

I honestly loved his class, despite how hecking hard it was. The topic was interesting, he was knowledgeable, and he was fun. We had a lot of great talks about Vikings as well as shared interests in Celtic music. Be prepared for LONG tests and be ready to read a lot, and the lectures and in depth and good notes are needed.

Worst professor Ive ever had. Ive never had someone more condensending. He takes pride in making someone miserable to the point its sickening. He shouldnt be an educator because hes a terrible person. He also makes the course way too hard for a 100 level course, its not even worth knowing the material to the extent he wants.

The worst teacher I've had in college. Forgot what it's like to be a college student. The tests he gives you need to remember 300 pages of information and if your taking any other upper division courses you can forget about passing. Avoid at all costs

Very hard course for a gen ed not related to your major. This would be an okay class for a talented independent learner who was ready to work really really hard and interested in this subject or an Anthropology major. If that is not you don't take it. Make sure if you take this course to READ the book and study HARD. Please. Take notes. Good luck.

Took this class because it sounded interesting and needed a gened. Horrible decision. Lectures are rambling and cant keep up in note taking and notes are imperative! Tests are long and what your main grade revolves around and covers so much content its impossible. I thought archaeology sounded interesting until I took this class. Horrible.

I learned so much in this course, and it's helped me in my other introductory courses in biology and philosophy at Potsdam. I think everyone should have to take this course from Dr. Weets, it's that good!

Sorry, this is not the route to go for a gen ed class. I'm sure some students work well with him, but there's a fine line between a gen ed and an anthropology seminar.
