David is by far one of the best professors at Mount Royal. He goes above and beyond to make sure his students are set up for success. Though the material could be a hard read sometimes, he makes sure that you can understand it and how to read it. There should be more professors like David.

David was a real gem during online classes, he is an easy marker but also a prof that genuinely cares about his students. The content was rather dry but that's more so to do with the course outcomes rather than his teaching. This class definitely carried my GPA and I would love to take more classes with David!

David is one of the best Ive ever had. Its clear he cared about his students and wants them to succeed. Hes very kind and allows room for improvement and growth without being harsh. He teaches in a kind manner and is always open to emails and questions no matter how stupid it may be. He also is super funny and a nice guy.

David is a wonderful prof! I wish there were more out there just like him, if you need help finding sources he goes above and beyond to help and sends you multiple. He has a great sense of humour and appears to really care that his students do well, I would 100% take another course with him!

Comment:
Great prof. Cares a lot about his students and essays and projects are open for interpretation (within reason). This makes the class a really unique, fun and a creative outlet. The class still requires a lot of reading, but the novels David chose were great choices and its a 4000 level class. 10/10 prof take a class with him if you can.

David is a true asset to the English department. Fantasy was definitely not my thing, but I am so glad I took this class with him. He made it interesting and he is such a genuine person. Extremely caring and wants the best for all his students, while also letting you be creative and is open for discussion on projects. Best prof I have ever had!

DAVID IS BAR FAR THE BEST PROF AT MRU. Everyone needs to try and take a fantasy english class with him. He loves the topic and actually excites you to learn something new. David is also the most caring professor and genuinely always wants to help his students reach their max potential. Cant say enough good things. He truly is an asset to MRU.

He is open and accessible to his students which I appreciate. He provides helpful feed back that will push you to grow in your writing. I would take a course with him again.

David is a great prof! Just beware that he isn't always clear with what he's looking for on assignments. He does, however, have a lot of flexibility with it - he won't punish you for not doing what he expected. No real grading criteria is offered, so you're kinda guessing on that part. Overall he's pretty chill and is fun to work with.

David can be firm, but he is a real gem if you're willing to put in the effort. His classes are full of discussion and he never makes you feel ridiculous when you share your thoughts. One of the loveliest people I've ever met -- I highly recommend his classes :)

I was dreading this class, as english in not my forte, but my major required it. David was extremely helpful and patient, even though I abused his office hours. Very nice, and I would recommend him to anyone. His marking was very fair, and I worked for every point. He's willing to go over essays with you ahead of time, if you are unsure. Loved him!

Dr. Hyttenrauch is avuncular, soft-spoken and pleasant. He's fair, but doesn't take nonsense from his students. If you're planning to work, to learn and to participate in good faith, you will like him a lot.

I had a class with him back in 00 or 01, and I ended up taking more classes with him; I even became an English major. I'd like to credit him with helping me to discover my hidden talent for the English language. He is a fabulous teacher, and Mt. Royal is lucky to have him.
