This professor only allowed us to use the three required texts (that were posted late by the way) to write four large essays. This teacher also messed up at the end of the semester by posting grades as RD, rather than the A I earned, and I needed to fight them and the Office of the Registrar for over a month and a half.

DON'T TAKE HIM. His directions are very unclear and he expects your writing to be at a PHD English level. If you email him, he'll be rude to you and you still won't be clear on what you have to do. I'm about to withdraw from this class. I've taken 7 other online classes and never had an issue before.

Good teacher and you do gotta write papers and there are no tests. You need 2 books and you need to complete throughout the quarter: 2 major postings (600 words each ), 8 commentaries (125 words each), and 2 major essays (1000 words each). Make sure you write well on all of the assignments and follow his prompts.

Pay attention and do the work that's it. Best professor I have had at this school so far, not because he is easy, but because he was clear and gave great instructions on what to expect on assignments. I am a philosophy major and he has helped me write better papers than my phil professors. No assignments should be late since he gives a lot if time.

I agree that Professor Garcia is intelligent and he makes his expectations very clear in the syllabus. Be ready to read and write a lot and be able to follow his guidelines as instructed in the syllabus.

I took professor Garcia for two different courses and I enjoyed them both. He is a very intelligent man; his lectures (essay format ) were great, they were well written and broke down the content from the text books. I am really surprised with the bad reviews because I would recommend him, he is fair, easy to reach and a good professor.

I really liked Professor Garcia. I felt that his classes helped me to become a better writer. He challenges his students to become more analytical in their writing and to dig deeper than the norm. I love the books that he selects to read as well. Have taken him for two different sections of history. You get out of the class what you put in it.

His lectures are all an essay format. He didn't provide sources for his essays. I emailed him asking what his sources were, and he just sent me a list of textbooks. Not helpful at all. He puts the minimal amount of work possible, which is very apparent in the way his essays are written. The essays are full of incorrect info and grammatical errors.

Comment:
Terrible professor. He's very one sided in his lectures (spanish conquest in 1500's was great, aztecs were 'blood thirsty' indians, etc.), and some of the information he provides is even false. His lectures were really confusing and had way too many gramatical errors. He failed to provide sources for where he got his information as well.

professor assigns two discussion posts (500ish word minimum) two minor discussion posts (350minimum) and two two part essays (1000minimum each part). Didn't provide clear instructions or grading requirements. Only provided a rubric for the last essay. Took too long to respond to emails. Really displeased with professor. Would not recommend.

Posted all 10 weeks of lectures the first week (so obviously uninterested) and they were LITTERED with spelling errors. He changed the syllabus about 7 times, his grading system is WRONG meaning you do an extra credit assignment for basically no points. He is the biggest JOKE of a teacher I have ever seen.

1) Online class consists of 2 major(topic of your choice) and minor posts(reply to another student's post) and 2 essays( his pick, but not that difficult) 2) I got an A (397400) even though I didn't read the weekly lectures cause it was too long and boring. I only read the parts needed to write my paper and posts. 3) Looks hard, but it's easy!

A G.E. class that i needed to take. As im a Ethnic Studies major, i found it quite easy, but im sure it would be easy for those who aren't new to this subject. If you miss a discussion post or are late in doing one you will hurt your grade. I aced everything but because i forgot to respond to another students topic i went from A to B+ in the end.

It's very hard to take someone seriously who uses recycled lectures that are littered with spelling and grammatical errors. I shouldn't be reading a lecture that looks like it was written by a student. So far the grading is nonsensical and the professor needs to decide on a format. This half assed post a paper but in APA is ridiculous.

Easily one of the Great Americans if you know his history. I love professors who require written papers. Writing about the topic always cements learning and leaves the student prepared to discuss issues that he wants more info on. The Greatest Class format in the Cal St. System. Thanks for challenging profslike Garcia. One of the best of all time.
