I want other students to know that this professor requires you to purchase his textbook brand new. The cost was $170 when I found a used one for $30 at the bookstore. The used textbooks won't have an access code. If you are paying out of pocket, this can really set you back. I would not recommend.

Dr. Newman is a great teacher. I took both GOVT 2305 and GOVT 2306 with Dr. Newman and for both classes, I recommend taking his class. He takes some time to respond to emails, but is very thorough with his explanations if you're confused with something.

I took this class in 2019 and I remember last week of the class I emailed him to grade the discussions because he didnt grade them. It said on the class syllabus that discussions was worth 20 or 50 points, I dont remember. Thats why I got a B in his class because he never graded my discussions I did. I wouldnt recommend this teacher b/c of that

I took this class in the Summer and it was one of the best I've taken so far! The professor was very caring and he responded to emails quickly. The class requires a lot of reading and note taking . The quizzes are not very hard as long as you read the book you will pass with an easy A.

The newest version of the textbook, written by the professor with several typos and grammatical errors, is MANDATORY. If you take the class online you cannot access the 3rd party website where your classwork is unless you buy the textbook. Professors like this are me least favorite and had I know this I would not have taken his class.

Well worth the time and money. The book is extremely expensive, but it is definitely needed to complete all assignments. The chapters are actually easier to understand since the Professor wrote it himself. Tests and quizzes are really easy. You can use the outlines from the chapters. Almost all answers are in the chapters itself.

Took Professor Newman for Govt 2306 for this past wintermester. one of the easiest professors ive had by far. Easy tests and quizzes, easy homework. He does require you purchase his book but the way its written makes it easy to understand Government so I did not mind purchasing it at all. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR you wont regret it.

Newman writes his own book and then makes his students pay $150-$300 to buy an access code for it. All assignments are done on GRTEP instead of blackboard so you have to buy the book. It's selfish and inconsiderate because I was taking this class online during wintermester so I should not have to pay an extra $300 to use his book.

Took his class for 2306 as well in a Maymester, and enjoyed it. His grading criteria is clear. Around 4-5 exams on the website platform he uses for the class, including 4 Fill in the blank assignments, 4 5-Q's quizzes, and 3 discussion boards. Self paced with all assignments, tests due at the last day of the flex term. Ebook gives ALL answers.

Everything is explained and broken down to lamin terms. You have to buy his book new ($150+) to have the access code for all the work through GRTEP, which sucks because its the same as blackboard.. Mr Newman's repetitiveness in his teaching etiquette is surpurb causing it all to stick. Take him.

I took his class online in wintermester. Everything is self paced. There are 4 Units, each one consists of an Evaluation of Ideas, Quiz, and an Exam. There is also a two discussion boards, a pre-test exam, and a final (both are the same questions and questions from all exams so I advise saving the exams in a word document or something). Take him.

I had his class on campus early in the morning, but his lectures kept me awake and interested. As a person who isn't into this subject, he really kept his students focused by having jokes and fun with the class. His tests are from the PowerPoint along with the questions from the back of the textbook. Pretty straightforward and not a lot of work.

Taking this online class was not that quite difficult. Although, there is a lot of reading and completing unit questions. As long as you read the syllabus and followed his schedule (which you did not have to--just had to finish assignments before the final day) you were successful.

I took Professor Newmans online course. He gives a list of what work will be due in the syllabus before the course starts,which gives you the opportunity to finish the course early. You will use his book,be prepared to read. He responds to emails clearly. I totally recommend his course ,you will learn a lot about government.

Hes a very enthusiastic teacher and even though I had his class really early I wasnt falling asleep or dreading it because he always kept the class interesting, most of the work is online and there are occasional tests during class but there not too bad

Dr. Newman was the best professor I have taken for my first online college course. He was very helpful and understanding with any issues when taking the online course. If you are thinking about taking an online course in GOVT, I would recommend Dr. Newman. The textbook provided was by him and it easy to understand. Finishing the class is a breeze.

I had Professor Newman for GOVT 2305 and 2306, both of them online during the summer. The course was very easy; it took me about an hour to finish each unit, and I finished the entire course in about a week both times. I strongly recommend that people take his course, he wrote his own book which he uses with the work and it is a very course.

Gets off topic a lot. With us he put us in groups and made us present in front of the class. The more prepared the better. Get ready for questions even if you don't talk. He likes when you visit his office, that will help if you need a letter of recommendation.
