I really don't know what the other users are talking about - I had Prof McCallie for Econ 101 at UNC and loved him - and I *hate* Econ. But McCallie made it interesting - he is helpful, nice, and he actually cares enough to learn your name. Talk to him after class and he'll like you. MUCH better than any of the others teaching Econ at UNC.

Do not expect your average perspective and be prepared to think. His course is not exactly hard, but many students seem challenged and/or hostile to some of the concepts he presents. Overall, I personally enjoyed the class.

Very boring, he tries but doesn't suceed. He hates acdemia and his arguements do not make sence. I would not take him again even though I easily got a 4.0 in the class. The only thing giving him a job is the fact that his wife is a good coach.

he spent more time hyping his wife's basketball team than teaching anything relevant. the tests were only loosely based on the materials presented and included an unacceptable amount of personal opinion questions. in essence, if youre not some neo-conservative 'trickle down' believer, be prepared to be wrong, wrong, wrong. not worth taking!!!

Don't take him- boo. This was supposed to be an honors class but it was mind-numbing. I went in open-minded and went out so glad that the class was over. I learned a couple useful things, but all in all, not worth it.

Some students clearly dislike him because he is clearly not a leftist. On the contrary, for me, his class is more like a breath air on this campus.

Best econ class - opinionated, sure - but open to talking about things before and after class. Well worth it.

He doesn't appear to know what he is talking about sometimes, or he just can't explain things. He is more interested in talking about his wife's coaching than teaching. He doesn't respond to e-mail and is generally very unhelpful
