Comment:
This man is the sole reason I'm genuinely considering dropping out and if by a stroke of God you have a way to get the necessary credit without taking his class, I swear to you take it without hesitation. This is just a non-starter if you want to make it through the year with minimal hits to your mental health. I wish I was exaggerating.

He's crusty, but get to know him a little and you'll realize that he cares. He'll give you life and work advice most other profs won't. Show him that you're willing to invest time into his classes and he'll return the favour. Don't be afraid to ask him questions.

Comment:
Klaus' lectures are dry and extremely long- couldn't stay awake. He can be nice, but he was extremely rude when I emailed him and showed he didn't care about helping me at all. If you go to class, are on time and take decent notes, you should be fine, but that being said he marks tough on the exam. The textbook is often more helpful than the prof.

Comment:
Lectures were unbearable at first. He talks very slowly and has trouble finishing his thoughts. Often spends way too much time on each slide and topic. But you warm up to him and his humour. Sometimes ends early. Put stuff he didn't teach on the midterm. Don't sit in the back, come in late, or leave early!

Comment:
Do not come late to class - Klaus has a habit of stopping what he's doing, staring at you and shaking his head when you walk in late. His lectures are very long but are simple enough if you pay attention. His tests are tough, since he likes to ask questions on history rather than actual material important to law... annoying.

Comment:
Communications Law is extremely important for any Journalist and Klaus' class is the only one course like it. He teaches some of the most critical elements of Journalism and he's been around long enough to be an extremely helpful critic for your work to determine if it holds up in the real world. He may seem crusty but it's just his humour. A+++

If you like getting A's, do not go to this class. This professor is rude, vague, and his tests are terrible.

Don't be put-off by his wry, curmudgeonly exterior, Klaus has a heart of solid gold that shines through despite his best efforts. He cares about his students than any professor you'll ever meet and will move mountains to help them succeed. If Carleton Journalism were a person, that person would be Klaus Pohle.

Klaus is a good guy if you ask for help. A little quirky and a slight bit crazy but overall a great prof and his course is easy so long as you do as instructed. Exam was super easy if you study the basic principles of the course and know your stuff.

Lectures were dry, often repeats himself and provides extra examples of course concepts. The assignment wasn't difficult, but I recommend seeing him for extra help before handing it in. Midterm was a breeze. Study, go to class and you'll be fine.

Klaus is indeed a J-School legend. His dry sense of humour and willingness to eviscerate sleepy & unsuspecting victims brings a little life to those early Friday mornings. Further, he knows the relatively dull material inside out, and finds ways to make it interesting. He pounds home his points, and largely disregards the text. A great professor.

Great prof... started class later than is listed and finished earlier. Have a flask on hand to wake you up on those painful Friday mornings... but once awake you will learn tonnes. Funny but practical, and very approachable. A j-school legend for a reason!

He may not be the most interesting lecturer, but he teaches useful information and is really nice and funny if you talk to him one-on-one. The assignment yielded a bit of a confusing mark - many were unhappy with theirs. He's tough, but the kind of tough that teaches you.

Excellent Prof in grad school and wonderfully nice man with a big heart. If you want to get an "A" in his class, listen well to his "dry" lectures, take excellent notes, and listen, listen, listen. I really enjoyed his class. He's also got a great sense of humour.
