Professor Marlin is an incredibly knowledgable individual. If you have the chance (or desire) to take this course, I highly recommend it. The feedback he gives on written work is especially valuable, and it will help you succeed no matter your major. There is a lot of information, so be prepared to engage with a substantial amount of material.

Prof Marlin is very knowledgeable & i learnt lesson from his Truth and Propaganda class that I will carry forever. He's been teaching this course since the 1980's, so you can imagine he's become very comfortable with his content, which makes him great at clearly explaining the content & having a grading system that allows his students to succeed!

Great! Super sweet and interesting. Gives great real life examples. He has A LOT of notes but if you do the readings you can see where he gets his info which can make the crazy note taking much easier! One of the nicest and sweetest and informed profs, its note and reading heavy class but you learn so much more about the world than normal!

I'm a science student knee deep in biology and chemistry and anything in arts or social science was very foreign and scary to me. Plus english isn't my first language. But if you apply yourself and ask for guidance, you can do well. I really enjoyed the class, very eye-opening.

One of my favorite professors. Very knowledgeable. Wrote the book on propaganda studies. (Okay, a book.) Only problem is his slides - it's Powerpoint, not Powerparagraph! Your hand will cramp.

It has become time to retire, professor. While I don't mind the anecdotes and the somewhat haphazard class structure and lecture structure, the fact remains that this professor is almost critically left-wing and a product of the 50s and 60s schools of thought. Luckily, that's where his material ends, which makes the class less than current.

I find the lectures difficult to listen to just because I'm too busy trying to quickly write down his slides. when I approached him one-to-one to talk about something, he acted quite pompous and rude, and while i like the class and i think he is profoundly knowledgeable on the subject- i regretfully must admit I think it's time to retire.

Again, students complain that he is 'dry' and 'boring', because they are poor students. Marlin is a leader in his field and should be well respected. His book PEP is fantastic. He has a ton of experience and great historical anecdotes. Not only marketing students should take his Propaganda course, it's full of history and useful background info.

I took this class because I had to for MCOM second year. I took it CUTV and ended up dropping it after 2 lectures because I could not stand listening to the man. I would literally pull out my hair the next time he said "uhm , uh, uhhhh"... Props to all of you who actually learned anything. Im just not that patient. He is a cute old guy though.

The man is a genius! He's younger than he looks, he can't operate the projector, but he's a wealth of information. Lives in the Glebe, rides his bike to school and protested the building of Lansdowne! He is a rebel and his office looks like its going to collapse! He's got newspaper clippings from the 60s! Listen to the way he says "logo" LOL

To exist is to resist, complacency leads to servitude. The man is a rebel and he teaches rebellion, freedom of information for all! And he sings and dances! What more do you want?

Prof. Marlin is an excellent Professor. Sure, some of his examples are dated, but he brings in stuff from daily headlines that look as though they were written to be included in the course. We should all be so lucky to have a professor as dedicated to teaching as he clearly is. An excellent Prof.
