In Contemp. World she was a little stricter because it is a freshman class and she needed to be. However, for every other class SHE IS A GEM. TAKE HER. EASY A! dont even bother reading just bs your participation in class (so easy to do). If you are good at writing papers you will get an A. She makes class fun and has a lot of videos to show. LOVE

So easy. She's very kind and understanding. She's a little scattered brained and unorganized so it is a bit hard to keep up with her but she means well. Take her for an easy grade.

I do NOT like history. At all, and I never have. Prof. Mahar changed that during this class. This is the best history class Ive ever taken solely based on her teaching style and her helpful nature. If you ever have issues, which isnt often, she is always available and ready to help. If you get the opportunity I would DEFINITELY take her!!

Professor Mahar is great, such a great woman. She doesn't have much that goes into your grade and her mid term is a lot of writing. Her lectures aren't boring but there is a lot to memorize for the test. She cares about her students a lot and I definitely would take her again!!

One of the best. Rare combination of expertise in the area she teaches and also the ability to be an effective and interesting teacher. I became a teacher, and looking back would say Dr. Mahar was one of the reasons I did. Lectures were always very interesting, and the required reading connected to the class and was discussed in class. Recommend.

I had Dr. Mahar for freshmen seminar Americans. She was amazing. My writing improved so much went from 80s on my papers to a 94 on the last paper. She will work with you and will tell you what she expects in the assignments. This class has helped me with other classes. Now I get 90s on papers. Amazing professor, really cares. ALSO shes funny

I had Dr. Mahar for FYSM Americans and she made this class very engaging and interesting. There are assignments due almost every class, but she tells you exactly what she expects. Overall, Dr. Mahar is an amazing professor!

I took Honors History with Dr. Mahar, and she is one of the sweetest, most entertaining professors I've had at Siena. I don't really like history too much, but she made the 2 hour lecture go by quickly with funny anecdotes and engaging discussions. She assigns A LOT of homework, and the papers aren't easy to write, but she's a very fair grader.

I really enjoyed having Mahar as a professor. If I have the opportunity I would definitely take her again. She gives your the entire midterm and final before hand which is SO healpful

Mahar teaches an upper level in a way that non-history majors would be thrilled. She dumbs stuff down and teaches like its HIST 101. Easy assignments, easy grader. Picks favorites. Participation grade is easy. Overall, easy lectures, easy assignments.

Dr. Mahar is such a good prof. She knows her stuff and is very helpful. You dont have to do the readings but they are very helpful. Lays out everything you need to study for. 8 fill in the blank quizzes with a word bank, 2 are extra credit. 3 tests. 2 projects/papers. 1 current event. I dont like doing work and i have a B. Definitely recommend her

Dr. Mahar is an amazing teacher...definitely take her if you want to get something out of this class...have to do the readings inorder to get good grades, and you have to study real hard for an A on the tests...but she gives you all the ID's and essay questions weeks before the test, so its a matter of how hard you try...definitely take her

Professor Mahar is a great professor! She makes class interesting and she lets you pick and elimate the essay choices -- so you know almost exactly what is going to be on the exams. She is so helpful during her office hours and help you understand practically anything...if you can take her you should! ONe of the best professor at Siena College!

She is a really nice lady and a good professor. Her lectures are fun and she is very knowledgeable in history. There is a ton of reading, but its not too boring. Her tests though are rough. It is difficult to get it all done in the class period. Your hand will hurt, believe me. She also assigns a pointless 15 page paper about your family.

Eh..not bad yet not great. Does bring some interesting culture concepts to class but class is boring overall since she teaches from the textbook. Not a lot of work, three tests, one paper, and powerpoint presentation. Basically read the books and you'll do fine.

Such a great teacher and she is so nice too. She is willing to help you out on absolutly everything that you have to do in her class, be it papers or a project. Tests are fairly easy, she practically tells you whats on them beforehand. Very energetic so its ok if you have her first thing in the morning. Wouldn't reccomend taking the class w/o her.
