Monotone so a little bit hard to pay attention. Although he seems to know what he is talking about he comes across as bored and rushes through the important bits of information. Spends a lot of time reviewing the same little bits of information found on the slide with no elaboration.

this guy spends all of the class time talking about the theory and actually does not spend any time on how to actually do the calculations, meaning when you have to do the mastering physics or prepare for a test, you will have to teach yourself how to do the calculations and how to use the equations.

Not amazing. Tends to talk about small details for a long time while ignoring the bigger picture. Disrespectful to students. He finds the material boring so he doesn't care about teaching it. Lots of learning from the textbook. Not very clear when explaining things.

Extremely boring prof, didn't attend any lectures after the first month. Course is rather easy if you're willing to learn it yourself.

I wouldn't have survived in this course if I havn't taken physics in high school. He makes you falling into asleep! and he just keeps going on and on and on...without actually saying inportant concepts. If you have him as a prof, I suggest you to enroll in other section.

The man is a strict but an incredibly helpful teacher. He'll make you work for your grade and make sure you know your stuff. And that's why he's so great; he really try's to teach you and present material in a well thought out matter. If you take his class, you'll get your moneys worth out of the course.

Dr. Hicks knows his stuff, incredibly smart man. His passion for physics is extremely obvious in the way he presents his lecture material, His exams were fair, and we were told what would be on them, and given very comprehensive formula sheets. Great course, fantastic prof.

Yeah, he's boring and the tests were hard, but he makes the effort to teach the course. Most people want to be fed the material without having to understand it, hence the low marks here, but Hicks makes you work at it a bit. People who do bad are either lazy or have never heard of coffee.

lets face it physics 211 is boring as hell especially when you're only taking it because you have to (bio students)... but prof hicks makes it as funny as he can with his offhand jokes, and he is very clear in his lecturing, his notes are great.

If you're ever tired and want to take a nap, take Mr. Hick's class. It is so slack and attendance is not necessarily mandatory. Even if you do go to class, he makes paying attention very difficult and puts you almost right to sleep. If it weren't for CPS Q's and his lame jokes, I proly wouldn't go to class at all. Overall, he is decent.

He's articulate and clear in his lectures. Given, he will go off on useless tangents but it keeps class interesting. Every once in a while - he'll do or say something that makes the class kinda awkward. And he has a problem with people speaking and will stop teaching or even leave the class altogether if it gets too much...understandable though.

Yes, he's boring. On the good side, he's smart, he's articulate, and his lectures and clear and understandable. I can understand why many others rated him poorly; a guy like this would have no appeal to all those who have little to no interest in physics and have to take a boring introductory course (a.k.a. Bio students).

Fairly boring and I seemed that we were always behind schedule. He managed to catch without too much pressure. He gets off topic quite easily and spends too much time on simple concepts like significant digits and Pythagoras's theorem (One whole class).Always answers emails and is there at the end of class, but he talks for ever!I would take another c

He tricks you into thinking you can learn from him with his clear and organized notes, and his random leaps across the stage... and then he writes the most impossible midterms and finals, so that a 38% is a pass. Very lame, and discouraging. I have never studied so hard for a class before, and I barely passed :(

Great Prof, tries hard to keep students engaged with very boring material. His notes are great, and organized. You still need to work to pass this course if you do not have a knack for this stuff, but of the prof's he is one of the better ones.

Took Class back in 05' In comparison with Louro, his notes are much more useful. If you have to decide between the two TAKE HICKS. He is helpful, and very clear in his lectures. If he doesn't have time to finish something he will not test it. The bad side of this prof. is that he is REALLY BORING. Can't blame him though, physics is real boring!
