Great teacher! The work gets a little complicated but he will always help if needed. Responds quickly to emails and gives partial credit on tests. Also offers redos on tests. The textbook is where all the HW is so you def need to buy it. The cheap option he warns about works fine tho. I bought it and had no issue. TAKE THIS CLASS!

Was an ok class. A lot of work but not too difficult. Professor Furman was a good professor for this class. He will email back fairly quickly if you have any questions. Midterm and Final are essays. Make sure to send a copy of your rough draft before turning it in because his feedback really helps.

Took Phil 201 online, participation in discussions is a must, weekly quizzes, lots of reading - but overall very interesting class. His PPT with audio was extremely helpful and not at all boring.

Do NOT take this class online. Dr. Furman was extremely hard to get in touch with and he rarely responded to emails. When he did respond to them, he made you feel stupid and he was mad that you emailed him in the first place. If you visited him in his office, he made you feel like the biggest inconvenience to him and he was often very rude.

Dr. Furman is one of the best professors that I have come across by far! He is not only funny, but a genuinely caring man. Though it may be a little challenging, he provides more than one way of understanding the material! I definitely recommend this professor! Probably the funniest teacher at McNeese. His class is so interesting. I learned a lot and honestly had fun doing the homework (even did some on Friday nights to reward myself for making it through the week). Material is easy to understand IF YOU ATTEND CLASS. All tests (including final) were take home. Lets class out early most of the time.

Assigns homework then goes over it in class. Tests are take home. But can be rather difficult if you don't go to class.

Dr. Furman was hands-down, the best professor at McNeese. He challenged me to think outside my personal bias and take everything into consideration! Never thought I would enjoy philosophy, but he made it thoroughly enjoyable and completely understandable even for someone with NO previous knowledge or experience in the field.

Dr. Furman will sometimes say things you may not agree with, but it's to get you to argue back and think critically. He likes it when students participate and argue with him. Overall easy class: 2 papers (midterm and final), and 25 reading assignments (not as hard as it sounds).

Professor Furman is a fantastic teacher! He has a great way of describing concepts so students will remember and is hilarious about it. He goes over everything on homework and tests, and is always telling students to come during office hours for help. If you do the work, you will get the grade you want. He's the best teacher I've had this semester.

Good teacher. Rambles a bit but he usually has a point. Only two exams which are both in essay form. Homework is a must do... He does not care about correct answers, but only that you attempted to answer then

Amazing professor. If you show up for class, he'll give you a majority or all of the homework answers. The tests and final are take home, but generally easy. Occasionally, he'll tell interesting stories in class. He wrote the textbook, so it is super cheap compared to normal textbooks.

Everything is on perforated pages in the textbook, so you must buy it. Furman wrote it though. He is very intelligent, and it is basically a logic class. Sometimes you really get it, sometimes you don't, but he is very helpful. Homework takes a little while to do, but it isn't difficult. Tests are all take home too, as is the final!

Highly Intelligent but down to earth teacher. He is very helpful and has plenty of office hours. The class itself is tough but he has patience and doesn't expect his students to know everything like other teachers do. If you must take philosophy take him, well worth it!
