Fall 2019. In my opinion, he's the best professor on campus. His words are actual gold. The rigor and format of the class is meant to install habits to promote true learning. The course was def tough, but once I adapted to it, it felt amazing! This man was responsible for the majority of my personal growth in college through a single class.

The online exams were ridiculous. For example, there will be a questions with 15 answer options, 4 of which being correct. The question will be worth 20 points and if you miss one answer option, you get 0 points. I realize it was a difficult transition to online; however, he dealt with this very poorly, with about 30% of the class dropping.

Im giving him such a low score because of how he has handled this semester. He has shown nothing but elitism and no consideration towards his students. He has no problem blaming students for not understanding the new format on the exams. Blames you for everything. Promotes students dropping. 27% dropped the course this semester. Horrible teacher!

Well, he's a personable guy, pretty easy to get along with, lectures "seemed" good, exams hardly correlated, and you have about zero study materials considering the coursepack has no answers to check. The lowest grade I've received in 95 or so credits yay. He chose to add a lot of naming into exams, unlike every other year.

Coppola is a great professor! He makes you work for your grade, but his exams are doable if youve put the time in. His final exams also tend to be more general and slightly easier than the midterms to make up for the volume of material. He is willing to help students learn organic chem but will not spoon feed you answers. I loved orgo with him!

So I took Orgo 2 praying to the lord above that Coppola wasn't teaching it, but alas he was and my semester was boned. Never have I ever hated a class more. Now, not only does the class itself suck, but Coppola teaches this ish as if we're all trying to become organic chemists. Also, HE DOESN'T PROVIDE KEYS for the practice. What's the point?0/10

Coppola is a solid professor and a nice guy. There's no sugarcoating the fact that his tests are hard though. You need to study A LOT to do well on them. Though it's pretty easy to get B/B-, but if you want the A range, it takes lots of effort

Coppola is a great professor. Students who claim he isn't most likely did poorly in the class due to their own shortcomings, not his. He definitely doesn't spoon-feed you the material, but he gives you all of the resources you need to succeed in the class. For 215 in general, I recommend finding a practice exam plug. Ask around and you'll find one.

I cannot believe the difference between taking Orgo at Umich and at a different University. Coppola is so nice, but I never had any experience with orgo and he teaches as if you do. I never felt like someone actually explained material to me, yet they expected me to know what they were talking about. In my new class Ive gotten 100% on all exams.

Absolutely incredible. Probably the best teacher I've ever had in my life. Not only does he explain the material in an engaging and clear way, but he is also willing to answer questions beyond the syllabus, which has helped me understand many concepts better. He also only uses the chalkboard, which I found much more interesting than powerpoints.

Incedible lecturer, explained organic chemistry in a way that even my parents would understand. Very accessible and helpful for outside of class questions. Related the material to every day life and made it seem relevant and interesting.

Coppola is a nice guy, but he is very fast and assumes you already know a lot about the topic. That being said, he clearly loves his job and is so on top of his work. He responds to emails almost instantly and is very punctual. He does not give out answers to the coursepack, but there are practice exams on nolta's website you can use.

He cares incredibly much for his students and is always energetic during lectures. During the office hours before the exam, he stayed waaaay past the the regular hours and answered every single question though it was really late. Coppola is extremely admirable and teaches in a way that is succinct and, as much as orgo can be, interesting!

The best chemistry professor on campus period. Organic chemistry is hard, but his explanations are detailed and thorough. Remember to use multiple sources of information, including your peers and textbook. There's a lot of work to do, but you're in good hands. He's definitely a role model for anyone who learns from him.

Coppola is a good professor but he isn't always clear in the way he presents the material, going in depth on things that aren't relevant. A few general notes about orgo it takes WORK, stay on top of the material and do ALOT of practice exams if you want an "A", also get your questions answered and don't hold on to misconceptions. Good luck!

I thought Orgo would be very hard, but Coppola's straightforward and logical lectures made the material itself seem not so hard. Amazing professor. He always incorporated real world examples into lecture which was cool. If you follow along in lecture, do the course pack, and put in time for studying you will be fine.

Brian is an extraordinarily intelligent, dedicated, & experienced professor. If Brian says it, it will be covered by the exam; his lectures are succinct & he does not stray from the subject matter. Brian uses examples that explain difficult concepts quickly and make them easy to remember. If you have a choice between professors, choose Brian.
