Comment:
Michael Callahan is a very good professor and actually tries to get people thinking without really having much of a bias. I would recommend taking him if you want to learn something however be warned it's a LOT of work (Arguably to much work) and he grades very harshly. So if you normally get A's you won't be getting one in his class.

Dr. Callahan is by far the best prof i had during my time at Kettering. Not only did i come away from this class feeling like i had a lot of new and valuable tools to use in my professional life, i also greatly enjoyed the class. I genuinely feel this is one of Ketterings most important classes, and think Callahan is the only guy for the job.

Makes the class an actual seminar instead of another humanities elective. He is great at leading class discussions and makes the course interesting. He is a tough grader and there is a large amount of reading but I would still take him again.

Dr. Callahan is an excellent educator. He challenges every student and expects that they apply themselves. You will learn to think in a way that is seldom seen in engineers. Expect and accept thorough feedback early in the course and utilize it in future papers to improve your grade.

Great professor, really gets you to think critically about events. Very enthusiastic about history. Highly recommend. As long as you make an attempt with enough examples to argue a view you need not to worry about getting a passing grade in the class. I wrote all 3 of my papers the day before (Had a busy term was last on my mind.) And recieved bs

Teacher will help you think critically, but will not under any circumstances give you a reasonable grade. Great for learning but horrible if you care even the slightest about your grade. Will not hesitate to fail you on an easy B paper for any other teacher.

Great professor. Gets you to really think about ethics and leadership. Lays out expectations very clearly in the beginning, but is a very tough grader as well. Still recommend taking him though.

Class was difficult but thought provoking. All assignments are laid out first day. Make sure you talk in class, and that what you say is relevent. It's a seminar, so its more of a discussion calss than a lecture. Awesome prof! loved the class. He's a tough grader. You get what you put in.

Dr. Callahan is definitely one of the best professors Kettering has to offer. He's absolutely brilliant, with high expectations, and will challenge your thinking. Unlike virtually every other class at Kettering, I felt this was what a college class should have been. Lots of work, but the work has clear value.

A fantastic professor, even if the course (LS 489) is a bit contrived. It doesn't stop him from teaching extensively his real subject, which is ALWAYS *Critical Thinking.* One of only a handful of professors that should be taken no matter what he's teaching; and the best lecturer in the school. Intense and direct. Minds will be changed. Good Luck!

One of the best professors @ KU. Be warned: It may be an elective, but it isn't necessarily "free." 4+ papers and a cumulative, multi-essay final are tough (by KU LA standards) but his lectures are intense; the school's finest. Once sang, with convincing passion and skill, the French national anthem in class (in French). Don't miss it!

Great teacher, demands a lot of intelligent writing. Lots of reading, good lectures that keep you interested. Probably the best prof at Kettering (not good for a school majoring in engineering)

Callahan is probably my favorite professor so far at kettering. This is a hard class, lots of reading, a good amount of writing and research. the guy is smart, really smart and makes class discussion interesting, would take again in a heartbeat for another class even knowing how hard he is. good sense of humor too

He is a very brilliant man and expects nothing less than the best from his students. Expect to work a lot but you will learn a lot if you put effort into the class and pay attention during the discussion. There are many important points made during class that can help you view the world in a new way (as the class is supposed to make you do).

The man knows and loves his stuff. He likes to tell it all to you, too- get used to writing and hand cramps. Expects a lot and is very specific about it, but is overall nice. Be ready for a rough ride.
