Comment:
He definitely has extensive knowledge on films. However, he spends alot of class time discussing the same topics over and over. If you need a fast paced classroom, he is not the professor for you. Also, your grade heavily relies on the midterm and final exams. In the end, its a film class, and shouldn't be hard to get an A with any professor.

Very knowledgeable of film, sometimes he can go on a tangent during lecture but he gets to the point eventually. He can be a little slow at returning papers but he offers great feedback. Lots of readings. Highly recommend C491 if you're looking for a summer elective.

I've been looking to take a FILM course at IUPUI and sadly have regretted the decision. Professor has no grading criteria. Go against what the professors beliefs and your sure to get a C or a D. Dennis Bingham has lectures that are very hard to follow. If your not minoring in FILM I do not recommend taking an elective with Mr. Bingham

Dr. Bingham is one of my favorite people on the planet. He is an encyclopedia of movie info. As a movie buff myself, I am always delighted to spend some time with him; in class, or walking through the halls. Take any of his classes, primarily if you appreciate (or love) movies, and ask many questions. He's a true master of craft and history.

I've taken three classes now with Professor Bingham, and he's definitely one of the better teachers I've had. If you're passionate about film, he will not disappoint. He gives good feedback on papers and is very open to hearing other people's interpretations of films. Best teacher you can have if you're a film studies student!

I have more respect for Dr. Bingham than any other college professor I have ever had. He is extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and very helpful. He has been more just a teacher, but he has been almost like a mentor to me and I am very grateful to have studied under him.

Helpful, courteous, knowledgeable, interesting, useful criticism on papers, everything one needs in a professor. He is actually quite accepting of other opinions in film criticism, contrary to the comments of another person. He is open-minded and I got As even when I fully disagreed with him. If you love film and can write a decent paper, take him.
