This class is very easy if you study the all the notes. His tests are a lot memorization. As long as you know the notes front and back you should get an A in the class. He also gives you extra points for attendance.

Dr. Chapman is a great teacher! Attendance is taken on a roll sheet every day. It is not mandatory, but he will boost your grade if you go. There are two tests, a paper, and one final that is an essay. There are also 10 volunteer hours. The tests are complete memorization. Memorize every list on the power points and you will be fine.

Great teacher, but his test are pretty difficult. Really cares for his students, and is very approachable and helpful. Would totally take his class again

Dr. Chapman is a wonderful teacher who is extremely passionate about special education. His life stories are amazing and he wants the best for you as a student. Show up to class and pay attention and you will have the right materials to study for the tests! His tests are difficult but if you study you will do fine!

What stinks about this class is there's no room for mistakes. I made a C on the first test and then A's on literally everything else and still only managed to get a B. The entire class is only out of 100 pts so you simply can't slip up at all. Tests are pretty difficult so make sure you pay attention and study everything. He's pretty nice though.

Dr. Chapman is a really nice guy. His lectures are pretty boring, but a lot of that is because of the material, not necessarily his teaching. Make sure you study ALL lists and understand the placement into SPE process- you'll need it for the final! Also, go to class. He'll be more lenient on your grade if you have good attendance. Study!!!

Very sweet and helpful. Tests are all listing with no multiple choice, so you actually have to know all of the material on his powerpoints, basically anything with a bulleted list will be on the test! Keeps the class interesting and funny! Loved him, highly recommend this class!

Dr. Chapman is such a sweet man! The information given in this class is very helpful, especially if you're a Special Education major like I am. His life stories are absolutely incredible. 10 hours of volunteering are required for SPE 100 and a 10 hour observation is required for SPE 300. It's kind of inconvenient, but so rewarding.

He is one fascinating guy. His life stories are enough reason to take this class. (he also is the only one offered) But the tests are short answer with only like five matching. If you memorize everything from the study guides you will be fine. The final is essay format. He is very helpful and understanding, but make sure you attend class.

I loved this class!!! You do not have to go to class but it is very interesting and you get helpful hints about what is on the test. You have to do community service but do something you enjoy and this class will be an easy A! He is a super nice guy and tells cool stories.

If you are willing to study hard, this class is easy. He goes over exactly what is on the test, so if you study, you'll get an A! He is also very understanding of missed classes and if you only miss a couple, he will help you out on final grades by raising it to the next (B to B+, A- to A). I would recommend him!

Wonderful class! He takes attendance every class meeting, and if you go it will help boost your grade at the end of the semester! Study for the test, but they come straight from his powerpoints. All the powerpoints are online so don't worry! I made an A. He is a great teacher

The first test he tells you what to study but from then on you're on your own. Very difficult because there is so much information and you don't know what he expects of you. Memorize EVERYTHING. Especially lists.

Such a sweet man! He pretty much just reads through his powerpoints and tells stories in class. But study for the tests! They are essay format and you are expected to know the material. Don't be afraid if you're willing to study!

The other comments on this were misleading. As long as you memorize the topics he tells you to for the tests, they are easy! From what I hear the final is a bit harder but if you work hard the rest of the semester you should be fine!

This man... seems very kind and genuine. This class seems deceptively easy until you take the tests, which are hard mostly because they are poorly written and poorly organized. TAKE NOTES. I rarely used the book but spent hours studying & trying to remember every detail. You never know what might pop up on a test.

Wonderful man, so glad I had the chance to get to know him. However, the class is way too hard for the easy information we are learning. DO NOT get the book because you never use it. Make sure you have good attendance because he boosts your grade in the end. Memorize EVERYTHING for the tests.

Very, very nice man who means well, but his tests are almost ridiculous. You literally have to memorize every power point he shows in class. The tests aren't knowledge based, they're just listing tons of information. I don't think he understands that you don't meaningfully learn material this way, you forget as soon as the class is over.

Comment:
Prof. Chapman was willing to clarify anything he did not fully explain in class. The class is difficult because you have to memorize extensive power points for the tests. He wants his students to succeed, and he will reward you if you have good attendance.
