Tolosa seems like such a kindhearted and sweet man, but will absolutely destroy and bring your self-esteem down when hes grading your homework assignments! His assignments take 10 hours each week, and you have to use Chegg for most of them otherwise your a complete genius! Half the people dropped the course, and available only during office hours!

A beautiful and inspiring complex analysis course. Instructive, clear, and enjoyable lectures. Answers all questions, especially during office hours. If you want to learn math and you want to learn to love math, take every class with Dr. Tolosa. He is also very knowledgeable in many other areas. Dr. Tolosa is a true polymath :).

Students at Stockton are extremely luck to have access to such a valuable resource as Dr. Tolosa. If you want to really learn math and understand it deeply, make sure you take every possible class with Dr. Tolosa. He is also very generous with his time during office hours, and you can learn a lot more during these meetings.

I took his Russian class and it is probably the most difficult class I've ever taken! On the bright side, he seemed to really enjoy this subject and cared for everyone to participate every class. Tests are hard. I recommend this class to someone that isn't taking too many credits, and someone who has time to practice a lot. He is very nice.

Applied Geometry is the easiest class if you have some type of geometry back ground. I took geometry my freshman year of high school and applied geometry was the same if not easier. Easy 2 question quizes on fridays, two tests, one final. He lets you have cheat sheets (full 8.5x11 paper) for everything! Easy A if you take advantage of cheat sheets!

I loved Professor Tolosa. One of the nicest teachers I've ever had. I took Calc for Life Sci. He moves through material very quickly so if you don't understand, have him explain it again or you'll be lost. Gives tons of extra credit, just ask. Do the homework, it helps! Not mandatory though. Don't skip class either or you'll be totally lost

Comment:
I took calc for life science with him and it was not horrible. If you have a calc background, then this class is your best bet, but he loses half the class by the semester deadline. Very nice guy, and is willing to help, but isn't the best at explaining things. If you can just see it and do it, then this is your kind of class.

Calc for life science wasn't too hard but not a cake walk either. He collects and grades your homework and you have quizzes every week. Tests are straightforward and I got by just cramming for a few hours the night before the exams. Not the best professor though he's unclear on some stuff

I had Tolosa for the new geometry for teachers class and it was awful. He is an extremely difficult grader and does allow a cheat sheet for quizzes and tests, but it does you little to no good. By the end of the withdraw deadline half the class dropped it. Avoid if you can

He is a great professor. Not easy at all, but its Calculus, baby. Always helps in his office or via email, uses Maple a lot (that is simply great). He wants you to show your logic and see how your brain works if you have any. Looking forward to taking his other courses in the future.

I took him for Russian! It is a very easy class if you just pay attention and do the homework. Goes over basically everything on the test the class before and allows you to have a one sided cheat sheet for every test! (3 tests)

had for lin alg and applied geo. lets you use a cheat sheet for all quizzes/tests. try to get a's on the first two exams so you can do a final project. hes quirky, funny, and a very sweet guy. in applied geo, questions/proofs came right out of notes. just copy your notebook on your sheet. gives lots of partial credit on exams & lots of extra credit

very very tough teacher. expects students to be on a high level of math knowledge. if you are not proficient in math do not take his course. he will be helpful to a certain extent but he moves quickly and is extremely picky grading tests and quizzes if your answer isn't perfect you will be receiving significant points off. steer clear if possible

He gives quizzes often and they are really hard. You may use one page notes on quizzes and tests but he wants every little detail for the proofs. He assigns homework but doesn't go over it and it doesn't count. He offers extra credit but it is so difficult that no one does it. It is almost impossible to get an A on any of the tests.

Loved this class. There is a LOT of homework but practice is the only way you will learn Russian! Anyone who gives him a bad review just didn't want to do the work. If you study and keep up with the homework, you will do fine and have fun while youre at it.
