I really enjoyed having Dr. Smith. There's a lot of reading for the class and the quizzes can be tough, but the material is interesting, which makes you want to read it. His dry humor cracked me up on multiple occasions. I learned a lot and it was my favorite class this semester. Spec Mind won't be a breeze with him, but I would fully recommend it.

Get to know this man by all means, you'll learn so much from his character. high demands and expectations, but he'll make you study. Take to heart what you learn; it's all worth it. is very professional and scholarly yet possesses a humble servant spirit.

Dr. Smith is one of the most intelligent and helpful professors on campus. He is an interesting and clear lecturer. His tests and quizzes are difficult, but I learned an immense amount in this class. Dr. Smith is one of the most helpful professors on campus. He is a clear and interesting lecturer. His tests and quizzes are very difficult, but they do only cover the material presented in class and in the textbooks. He is very helpful during office hours and always promptly returns e-mails and messages. I highly recommend him!

Dr. Smith is one of the most intelligent professors on campus. He is very clear in his lectures and has a wonderful sense of humor. Tests and quizzes are very difficult, however they are over the material that was presented in class and in the textbook.I learned an immense amount in this class. He was always willing to help with any questions I had.

Spec Mind with Dr. Smith was totally worth it. The class is challenging, but if you put the work in then you can get a good grade. Take him if you are willing to put in effort, not if you want an easy A. He's very engaging, knowledgeable, and helpful. He also starts the class with humor sometimes which is nice. I'd definitely take him again.

Lectures too fast, not very interesting. Had to outline every chapter of the reading, which didn't help much w/ the tests overall. Useless busy work. Tests weren't too tough, pretty basic information on world history and events. Paper was graded very bizarrely. I heard he's better for Spec Mind. Go w/ Kengor or a poli sci prof for Mod Civ.

He's a very smart prof. and spec mind was a very interesting class with him. He gives a ton of reading and he grades essays harder than anyone else I know. He's a lot of work but I think he's worth it.

You guys are wimps. If you actually study it is possible to do very well on his tests and in his classes, and it won't consume your life. You actually have to be willing to learn and make a little effort, however.

Very hard tests and quizzes. Class lectures are boring and powerpoints are scatterbrained and poorly organized. You would do best to rewrite the notes after every class to make them comprehensible. Class presentations make you learn a lot, both when presenting and just watching. Papers are graded pretty easily, but expect them to be covered in ink.

Is ridiculously hard. You will read for hours for the quiz and still not get even a good grade. Depressing that you study 5 hours for a 10 point quiz and only receive 6/10. Very nice guy, though, and incredibly smart. Do not take him unless you want to spend hours reading. Class material is pretty interesting and Dr. Smith is very knowledgable
