Dr. Schaefer was absolutely wonderful. He tells you everything to know for the quizzes and tests ahead of time (including the midterm and final exams), so he hands you all you need, all you need to do is put in the time to do the work. I found myself zoning out of his lectures a few times, but other than that it was great. Puts comics on his PPTs.

Great course and a great professor! Dr. Schaefer is a real goofy and fun guy and he truly cares about his students so much. He makes sure that papers and exams/quizzes are easy so that students can focus on gaining a deeper unerstadning of topics rather than simple memorization of correct answers. RELI261 is the perfect mix of fun and enlightening!

He is a very caring professor that prepares you for both tests. Class is very boring and lecture heavy but he tries to throw fun parts in. The midterm and final were rough but he holds a review session the night before and he basically gives you the test questions.

Passionate and profoundly knowledgeable about Scripture. Lectures can be hard to follow sometimes due to wandering slightly off topic, but still an great professor

Dr. Schaefer is possibly the nicest, sweetest man on the planet. There are quizzes nearly every week, but they're fine as long as you have a decent understanding of the reading. Always has a thorough study guide/review for midterms and finals, and the paper assignments for his classes are generally pretty painless. Long live Calvin and Hobbes.

This guy really wants his gen-ed students to succeed. There are weekly reading quizzes but they are not too bad. Extra credit is given on the quizzes and there are numerous extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. He gives you a thorough review guide and has an amazing review session (which is essentially the final exam). Take him!

Extremely easy class. All of the other professors for this class were tough graders. Schaefer students would work so much less than the others, but we would stilll get much higher grades.

Great prof. had him for Western Civ and it was an enjoyable time, the tests were fairly hard, but he did give fair warning on what would be tested on. A lot of content was given in that class! Overall, 5/5 for the Dr. Schaeffer

Pretty boring content area and lectures (there are usually a couple people passed out during his talks), but he's a really passionate guy who tries his best to get students excited about religion. Very willing to talk after class or during office hours, even about non-related material. He wants you to learn a lot and get the best grade possible.

Schaefer's classes are large sections taking place in Sticht, It was easy to not pay attention. It was interesting material, but the lectures were not. The tests are easy. They're straightforward questions, but there is a lot of material to memorize with tests averaging 100 questions. The quizzes are easy as long as you do the reading.

Is great about letting you make up missed quizzes. Very clear about what is required for class project. Very entertaining class, while still staying on the subject. Wants you to pass and will help you to get there.

It's hard to not love Professor Schaefer. Especially with his fondness for Calvin and Hobbes and his constant references to Monty Python. Everyone loves his HUMA classes since they are fairly easy but you will still have to work for the tests. His classes can be a little boring but he makes up for it by just being a really likable man.

The paper was easy. Lectures are not too engaging but he is a sweet guy. He wants the best for everyone anything. Tests were harder than expected but still easy enough to get a solid B+ A- ( I am an A, A- student). Be ready for quizzes.

Amazing man. Really nice and caring, and fun as well. The tests cover a lot of information, but he provides study guides that outline EXACTLY what is on the tests. He grades the tests easily, but you do have to memorize a lot of information. The "paper" we wrote was just finding sources and writing an outline.

Schaefer is the man to take Huma 101 with. He loves making Monty Python references in the middle of class. Many of his lectures even include video clips. Although class is not mandatory because he does do a final review at the end, I would go to class in case some freak health issue happened to him at the end of a semester. Quizes are cakewalks

I would definitely take Schaefer again. He's funny, he showed us Monty Python clips in class and he puts Calvin and Hobbes comics on the quizzes. In terms of difficulty the quizzes are relatively easy if you read the chapter, but the exams you need to study for. He does review sessions before the exams which, with notes, can mean a good grade.

One of my favorite professors at the school. He truly cares about the students and is willing to help with anything. He understands that all of us in HUMA have to be there and makes it interesting. Love this man and his teaching. Take him if you can. You will need to study for his finals, but they are very fair. Harder than the quizzes though
