For a basic gen. ed. class, I found it to be very frustrating, especially with this instructor. There was no way to meet him in person and the only way to contact him is via email. I was very close to having a 70% in the online class and he didn't round up like majority of the instructors do. I would advise not taking this course at Western.

This course could be better if there was a way to meet him in person during office hours to further discuss any issues on some of the homework questions. Unfortunately, the only way to communicate with him is through email. I even asked other students to meet up with me somewhere on campus for study sessions on the forum to no avail. Take at KVCC.

If you're having difficulty finding some basic gen ed courses that will be convenient for your busy schedule, take this online course. The deadlines for the assignments are laid out and all of the coursework for each module is organized in a staggered manner. So stay on top of everything and you should pass without any problems. Print the syllabus.

I'm currently taking his online Critical Thinking class to take care of one of my basic gen ed requirements and so far, it's not too bad. Just keep up with all of the coursework and readings and you shouldn't have a problem with this class. I highly recommend printing out the syllabus and assignment schedule with all of the due dates.

Dr. Alspector-Kelly can be terribly long-winded in his lectures, but he'll always explain the material well. He's open to questions and will do his best to make class enjoyable. He'll also assign reading that he'll explain in-depth during class, so there isn't much incentive to do any work besides showing up and taking notes.

Marc is awesome, very intelligent, also the man is INSANELY helpful if you approach him after class. The man seemed actually super excited that I came to him for help after class, he was eager to do it. The subject is hard but if you do make the initiative, he WILL help you and will be happy to do it.

GREAT prof. The problem is.....the stuff is hard. This was the first grade I got below an A and it was a C+...and I was a philosophy major. So the material is rough, but the prof is great. If you're going to take theory of knowledge, Marc is great; just be ready to study more than you want to.

I love this guy. The class was great and he's a good teacher...not just another stuck up Phd annoyed that he has to teach undergrads. I'll take him again as soon as I get the chance. I even sat in on his crit reasoning class because he makes it so much more tolerable than any other prof seems able to do.

Excellent with caveats. 1. Do not take class if you do not like philosophy. 2. Can be a little scattered in lecture, but it's good if you've got the same sort of brain. Fair grader. Helpful outside class. Can be very funny. If you don't understand something, just ask!

i looove this class. if youre not into critical thinking, then obviously dont sign up for a class that is called "critical thinking". Marc is great though. he is really easy to understand and keeps things interesting.

Nice guy, but a hard subject to grasp if you're not interested. There's a ton of argument analysis, and rediculous things that the normal person would look at and laugh. A LOT of pointless work & POINTLESS information. If you go to every class & every discussion (lab), you should be fine, but if don't & don't plan on doing hw, find a different clas

He is nice enough but (partly because of the subject matter) is confusing and not always clear. There is a good amount of tedious homework but not a bad experience.

Marc likes to put up powerpoint presentations and simply lecture, for a philosophy class, I find that its critical that the professor engages the students to help them better understand.

Subject matter, though occasionally interesting, is mostly useless and impractical. Between size and ease, you could afford to miss several classes; the book will include what you missed. Hard to get excited about...

I felt he was very biased. He only knows his little subjectmatter. Get him in a discussion about something even a little off his area and he gets nervous because he seems to have no idea what you are talking about. He was a fair grader though, and when you have him on HIS topic, there's none better.
