I wish I'd had more professors like Dr. Batten during my undergrad. She's explicit about what is expected, fair and cares that her students become competent professionals. The material is dense and there's not enough time for it to be spoon fed to you but Dr. Batten explains it well and makes herself available through email and office hours.

I was a little nervous about organic chemistry. It's notoriously difficult. However, Dr. Batten made this class enjoyable, and easier to understand. Her expectations are reasonable. She is nice, and cares a lot! Best of call she treats you like an adult. If you put in the effort and show up to class, she will happily give you her time. Dr. B MVP

She seems like a nice person, but this was the hardest class I have ever taken in my college career. She writes using chalk and in cursive, and doesn't follow the schedule she made and changes it constantly. We ended up teaching ourselves in groups in between classes or in the tutor lab bc things go so fast. Smart prof - but intimidating.

Professor Batten was generally very hands-off during lab, but she would answer questions if you had them. Helpful, caring (kind of in a tough-love sort of way), and respectable. She really wanted us to reach our fullest potential. Definitely expected us to mainly teach ourselves the material, though. Don't let her intimidate you: she is really nice

Dr. Batten is an incredible professor! She is tough but its only to prepare you for the field you want to go into. If you are a hard worker who wants to UNDERSTAND the information and not just memorize then you will find this class incredibly rewarding. She will go above and beyond to help everyone succeed if you put forth effort. Recommend highly!

She is very personable and presents the material in an interesting way. I did not however take this course for those reasons. Her exams are only loosely associated with her lectures and the required textbook is hardly useful in learning the material as she repeatedly states her dislike for it. Don't take this class with this prof if you need a 3.0

Very helpful professor. She has a very methodical approach to organic chemistry that makes it easy to understand. Always reminds students the importance of practicing on chapter problems and reinforces with a ten minute quiz before every class. If you pay attention and do your part, you will love organic. The best organic chemistry professor ever!!

If you are looking for an easy class with a teacher who lets you slide on grades, this isn't your teacher. If you put in the work then go to her for help, she will offer helpful advice or help you work through a problem. Great teacher, looking forward to Organic Chem 2!

Terrible. Refuses to give us reveiw guides bc the class average on tests was below a 70. Clearly we need a review guide and more help but she didn't care. Worst teacher i have ever had

Do not get behind! Right away get a tutor at the school (its free!) and go to her office hrs for help. Know the tiny details on the subjects, her tests have lots of multiple choice (they are tricky) and essay questions. She is great for asking about lab and helps you when needed to get things done with your experiment.

She tells us to do about 14 hrs a week of review with homework and it does really take that much time. Only take 1 other easy class with this.In order to do well on her tests you need to know every little detail on her lecture notes. Read the book! She is helpful only if she knows you put the effort into it first or else she wlll give you broad hin

Not clear at all about material tested. Intimidating, unfair, unhelpful, and a clear biased toward certain students. Of all the Chem. teachers I have had she is the worse.
