I transferred to Berkeley as a chemical biology major, and I can not thank Boyajian enoguh! Honestly, community college classes did not prepare me for Berkeley at all, but taking ochem with Boyajian did. He is very nice and helpful as long as you make your effort! one time he stayed in the lab until 8pm to help me w/ my lab. Take it with him!!

Professor Boyajian is a crystal clear teacher in Organic Chemistry. If you want to learn the material, I would highly recommend him. Do not expect to take this course and pass with an easy grade, you will need to work your butt off. He is extremely fair in his grading structure. If you can handle it, stay the full 2 semesters. It is worth it.

The best O Chem professor ever. The class is very challenging, but after passing his class you will gain the powerful knowledge about O chem to help you success in any university. I highly recommend this class especially if you want to go to medical school.

hey i took it too! yea. i didn't think he was the best professor out there. yea. he would be talking in his office almost all the time when i tried going in. and he would check on us at the end of the period. i think people who took chem previously knew what they were doing. the rest were confused :( Take Cottam: he rocks!

Well, I took Dr. Boyajian in the summer for Chem. 110 Lab and found him to be an outstanding professor. He did retire from the lab, for a time, after his lecture to us; however, he would return to check our laboratory set-ups and apparatus and would help us with our calculations and lab concepts as needed. After taking Boyajian in the summer, I did

I don't know...i took chem lab over the summer & thought he whizzed through the labs & his explanations were not clear. He uses complex vocabulary when explaning material & would briefly explain the lab, then would say, "O.k folks...I will be in my office if you need me." When u went in, he would b talking ont he phone! He hates Summer classes!

If you must take OChem only consider this Prof. You will not only be challenged beyond anything else you have encountered but if you make it through the year, you will gain a knowledge far superior to any 4 year university. He is very caring and loyal to his students. The only Prof to stay up till 11 pm helping his students

Boyajian was a great professor. Unfortunately, I couldn't complete the whole sequence (did first semester o-chem and half of second) due to time constraints, and ended up repeating series at Berkeley. Nevertheless, I got a tremendous deal out of his class, and I'd recommend him to anyone.

Prof is the best teacher I have ever had for chemistry. He may seem intimidating at first, but he wants to make sure you are in it to learn. Make sure you attend all lectures and labs, take good notes & don't be afraid to ask questions. He is always willing to stay after classes for extra help. It's not easy, but you will definitely learn.

Damn hardest class you will ever take at a comm. college! 1st semester started full, ended with ~12 students. 2nd semester started w/ 12 students and ended w/ 7. Hands down the best teacher I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. He doesn't BS you though, there is no way to make this easy, but if you're serious he's the man to teach you!

Prof. B is one of the best educators i have ever encountered. I took him during the summer and was fourtunate to learn from him. His labs were super easy and his grading was even easier. BUT his tests were a killer. The averages on the tests were horrid but he curved them.

Organic Chemistry is argueably the toughest course in undergrad bio/chem. Let me tell you this: you want to take this with NO BODY other than the Doc. I was a very average student, but busted my butt in this year-long course under prof Boyajian and passed with flying colors, and an understanding of OChem so deep, it frikkin scares me. This guy ROCK

Great guy. Pay attention in class and ask lots of questions if you don't understand. Very helpful, but tests are HARD. Professor B has tons of experience in chemistry and will bend over backwards for his students. Great class, but defenitely need to put the time in to get an A.

Boyajan wasn't kidding when he claimed his class was superior to those at universities. He pushed us more than any professor I've ever had, yet this is appreciated. Although he is extremely helpful and willing to explain things further, I thought his teaching left something to be desired. I'm better for having taken the class, though.

I went to Berkeley after taking Boyajian and I can say that his class is hands down far superior to any other Ochem course offered out there. You should definantly take him now at JC because you will both learn more and have a easier time doing so. My only complaint about him is that he neglects the biochem portion of Ochem.
