Comment:
Dr. Amenta is a very kind lady. Her lectures though are awful, she messes up often and it is hard to understand. She is very accessible outside of class and will go over material with you one on one if you ask. I'm sure she is better in person but online is confusing. Overall, do your work, its alot, but do it and push through. Hope she curves.

Dr. Amenta seems like a nice lady but her online lectures are so very confusing. I find just watching videos posted by Dr. Peters to be more helpful. I just started this course and already have no idea what is going on because as soon as I do, she messes up and doesn't correct. I am sure she is better in person but as of now it seems very daunting.

Amenta is a pretty good choice for orgo 1. After the first test, the material gets significantly harder and the average dropped 20 points. Her tests are multiple choice and written, but she gives partial credit. This class is extremely difficult, confusing and time consuming, but Dr. Amenta's class is easier than the other professors.

Would not take her if you have to take 242, I've found she failed to cover needed material. She would mess up in lecture causing it to be confusing. She is nice as a person but she just isn't a very good teacher, she goes through things very quickly as if we had already taken the course. I highly recommend reading the textbook and going to PASS.

Amenta is so so nice and a good option for 241 ONLY IF you don't have to take 242. Her class is easier than others, but if you want to do well in the class you need to teach yourself via the textbook, which is tough but doable. She's so nice, visit her office hours and get to know her!! She can mess up sometimes in lecture, which can get confusing.

I found it better to not go to class and just read the textbook. Lectures can get confusing. make sure you keep up with online homework its not hard but theres a good amount of them.

Dr. Amenta knows the material. Its an extremely hard class but NOT impossible, even with her. You have to read the textbook and do all of the practice problems to pass. There are 4 tests and a final and she'll replace your lowest test with your final exam grade. GO TO PASS SESSIONS!!

Please do not freak out if you have to taker her!! She knows what she's talking about and is very knowledgeable, but she does mess up on examples as will anyone in orgo. You have to put in a lot of work outside of class to understand the material but you would have to with any professor since there is so much. She's super sweet also!!

Amenta is a sweet lady but she just doesn't teach. Taught myself this entire course by reading the textbook because in class all she does is say random stuff and not tell us what it means or why she's doing it. I wish I could say she was a good professor but she's just not.

Her tests are easier than other classes but i really don't like her. She pretty condescending and rude when you go to her office. She is great if you don't have to take orgo 2, she will not prepare you for orgo 2 and its way harder than orgo 1.

Dr. Amenta is a super nice lady, but horrible teacher. She is consistently making mistakes in class which leads to further confusion. Most of the time it doesn't even seem like she knows what she's doing and her expectations are ridiculous for how she teaches. The averages for the majority of her exams have been failing if that tells you anything.

If you are thinking about taking 242 DO NOT TAKE HER. She is a great person, but the way lecture is taught is not conducive to retaining material and all of the material builds off of itself... Replaces lowest test grade with final. Not everything on the test is covered in class, or is in the book. Multiple Choice tests (no partial credit)

She is a really nice woman. She isn't a very good lecturer. Definitely go to the PASS sessions and read the textbook. Do the textbook problems as well. Tests are either extremely easy or extremely difficult. If everyone bombs a test she might give out extra credit for it.

She's (obviously) smart, sweet, funny and knows what she's talking about, but she has trouble efficiently and effectively communicating to her students. You need to put in A LOT of outside of class hours to do well.

Doesn't even seem to understand the material she "tries" to teach. Switch out or if you can, teach yourself out of the book. The class wouldn't be too bad if she actually taught for a change.

Dr. Amenta is awesome. Very funny and makes lab enjoyable. However as the semester progresses the grading gets tougher because expects top not work (after all its for chem majors.) Just work hard and enjoy 387L and 388L

she makes class fun but she really has high expectations for you to achieve since she happens to be the head of the department. But she's been teaching for so long, she'll always be the right one and she'll help you out as long as you come half way.
