I just finished a stelar semester with this professor. He beats them all on quality and knowledgability. Plus he lectures without giving the pablum so many seem to want. Quality students will miss his courses when they graduate.

Comment:
Comm 498, senior seminar, is supposed to be for the benefit of students. Instead, Ed combined all of his classes (like 4 of them) and just talked. And talked, talked, talked. If you can tolerate an egomaniac, you'll be ok. He is super easy and is probably retired by now. Just write fairly decently, smile and nod when he talks, and you'll get an A.

Comment:
Critical theory is one of those subjects that doesn't change at all from one year to the next. McLuskie has been teaching a version of this class for a very long time. He lectures a few class periods, doesn't meet for the other 95% of the class periods, and seems like he would be very picky. But he isn't at the end. Easy A. No need to attend.e

This was the best class I've had in the comm dept. Lectures were high quality and relevant. Learned more about comm theory in just one meeting than in other classes together. Got fast replies to my questions, too.

Comment:
McLuskie is hands down one of the best prof's in the Comm department. He doesn't pander to the lower half of the class (or in the case of BSU's Comm dept., 85% of the students), and his lectures are intellectually challenging and enlightening. Commentators who say things like "his info is out of date" have little understanding of philosophy.

Thorn in the side of one-dimensional thinking & rare remnant of a truly critical mind.

Very smart and interesting - but VERY HARD! He is honest with you though - he will tell you if you have no hope in his class! Be aware if you're not familiar with politics - this class will be very difficult for you! Thought I wasn't going to graduate because of this course! Very stressful!

I have a double major in philosophy and comm, and a 3.9 gpa. I am ready to blow the whistle on this guy. His information is so out of date, and his opinions not justified by the literature. Yet he talks as if he is the god of the philosophy and comm world. Retire, Ed. Retire.

Those who say Ed is smart, gets you out of comfort zone.....you have been listening to him blow his ego all over the place. He is his own best audience. I get tired with the way he bad-mouths the other profs every class period. He makes it sound like they are all idiots and he is the only smart person in the dept. He is horrible and mean-spirited.

Ed McLuskie is one of the best professors at BSU. If you care in any way about actually learning something take everything he teaches. If you are just trying to get your degree while remaining as ignorant as you possibly can, don't take his class.

Ed thinks he is the smartest guy in the world. Just humor him, smile a lot when he tells his 1960"s stories and you'll get an A. Or a B at least. He sucks.

Ed is full of himself. If you want to hear a guy who is over the hill not only in life but in his career (did he ever do anything but teach this class for the last 50 yrs?) then Ed is for you. He is never around, cancels class, has students do work "independently" which means he is gone drinking wine or whatever. I'd love to get paid for nothing!

One of the best! Always available, even by email every time asked questions or asked to meet with groups, which were doing projects. Really learned a lot. Challenging, though. Want more classes by this guy.
