Comment:
The lecture and textbooks aren't reviewed in depth for better understanding. His lecture is mainly based on his view of sociology and what matters most to him. He talks continuously and goes on and on and on and on and on............................. Overall, my understanding and interest in sociology has decreased while taking this course.

He is an interesting person but does not teach the material whatsoever. His tests are not connected to lecture. Reading and studying the class book will not suffice for the tests.

Has been teaching the same curriculum without updates sine the 70s. Very outdated in his teaching and viewpoints (sexism, gender roles). He is extremely stubborn and won't listen to students' opinions. Lectures are long and irrelevant; he just likes the sound of his own voice. Tests come straight from the book, don't bother listening in class.

He's a really nice guy and does care about his students. He will help you if you have questions or concerns. But the tests are fairly difficult; it's all from the book so you have to basically memorize the vocabulary and read the chapter once or twice. His lectures are very long and don't pertain to the test.

His lectures are so LONG. Unless you are really interested in what the specific lecture is on, you'll be bored out of your mind. Do NOT take as a night class because you barely even get a break! Tests are mostly book material, but a sheet is based off lectures. Everyone will be required to lead a discussion as well. It's not hard, but it isn't fun.

He was an okay Prof. He knew a lot about the material, which was helpful. But the majority of the test was off the textbook, which is huge. There was a lot of material you had to learn by yourself because his lectures didn't not correlate with the textbook.

I am disappointed at the many students who complain about lectures. This is COLLEGE. Makepeace is so knowledgeable and if people would actually listen, they could learn so much. His "random tangents" aren't random. They provide more depth to what he says. He is the reason why I want to be a sociology major. My first socio course, and I loved it.

Family Violence - CSB/SJU should be ashamed to have him as a teacher!!! While discussing violence against men he indicated that a woman who hits a man is just flirting and the harder she hit the more she must like him. His curriculum is dated to the 70's and did not accept updated data as the truth.

Worst class I have ever taken, high school or college. My experience this semester was significantly worse because of this night class, so for those of you who had bad experiences having him every other day, I think you were lucky to only see him for 70 minutes at a time. He is an awful teacher, (I study education) stay away.

Easy A. Just go to class and talk. He's a little old fashion in his views, but knows what he's talking about. He has done his research and is knowledgeable.

Sweet adn funny guy. Tests are entirely from the book - do reviews at end of book and they'll be easy. Also study his lecture notes for a small part of exams. Very interesting class discussions. Very knowledgable, just doesn't make class extremely interesting. Learn info from book for tests, but listen in class for interesting tid-bits.

This prof is the worst prof you could ever possibly receive. Every single day he goes off on pointless tangents that have nothing to do with sociology. His tests are from the book but all of his questions are the most random, unimportant questions possible. Stay away from this class - it was a nightmare!

the most pointless class; makepeace easily gets off topic, rarely discusses anything related to sociology, and almost always lectures for the full 70 mins. his tests are directly from the chapter reviews however, he gives a separate sheet of "lecture" questions that are very difficult. i would say if you can avoid a class taught by him, do so!!

This was one of the worst profs I've taken. He was boring, went off on random tangents... I took it with this guy just to spite the negative comments of everybody else. Let me tell you, it wasn't worth it...

I had heard negative things about this prof previously. In fact, though, I think we (the whole class) got along well. He was definitely available to help and knew his stuff.
