Incredibly frustrating professor. His tests are nearly impossible to pass. He also blames you for not putting enough time studying for it despite the fact that almost the entire class fails the tests. The only thing that saves the class is the opportunity to prove your skills through projects.

I dreaded this class everyday, no participation, just boring lectures. I was optimistic going into the class, but his rating and comments all made sense after just a couple classes. Tests were not easy and had little to do with the lectures, make sure you read and analyze each play he assigns. I did poorly on all tests, but ended with an ok grade.

Worst teacher I have ever had. His lectures make you wish you were either dead or asleep, grades like he's trying to prove theatre is a difficult major. He has to curve every test because no body makes good scores--not even theatre majors. Avoid at all costs!!! Condescending and rude, doesn't help anyone after class so he can remain "unbiased."

I hate theater so I did not enjoy this class. If you like theater and drama, I would assume you would like him. Lectures seem so long and are boring. We don't get to act, just sit and listen. Personally I dreaded that class everyday. Tests are open ended, so hard. Read the freaking book and put stuff from it in the test or you won't do well

His tests are incredibly difficult - all open response. He is very funny and insighful but if you are not a major I would not recommend taking this class with him.

Rhett is a card. He is very particular, very snarky, and very set in his ways. But if you love lighting/theatre in general and if you like someone who will challenge you, someone who loves to remain occupied, then you'll love Rhett. He's one of the most interesting people I have ever met, and if you respect him, he'll be a good friend and ally.

Comment:
His tests are ENTIRELY unpredicatable and the notes are sometimes useless. His lectures are hard to follow, as he goes off into random sprees of talking about things that have NOTHING to do with the topic. He also is VERY VERY biased and heavily liberal. If you are conservative, he will assault all your values.

Jerk. He is meanspirited, condescending to those he doesnt deem important, blatantly rude, and harsh. Difficult class made unbareable by his personality. Stay away from him, i've seen him cut down students who weren't even in his classes. Don't take this man's class unless you like being degraded.

Though considered by many to be extremely difficult, if you do your work it'll pay off. He's one of the most intelligent and knowledged people I've ever met. Don't take his class if you're expecting an easy A, but he truly knows his field and a surprising amount about everything else, as well.

He's a terrible teacher. He honestly believes that he's helping students by being so hard on them, but he is unbareable most of the time. Can be oddly malicious at unexpected times. Avoid unless you wanna kick him in the balls; then I'll give you 50 dollars!

Made my cry multiple times. Made me want to cry even more. He's great at what he does in the theatre, but he should never be allowed to try to teach it. Do NOT take him, under any circumstances! I know people who declared his Theatre 11 class pass/fail...

As a major I know that he is the WORST professor in the dept. and perhaps at Furman entirely. He has a fun personality, but teaches with methods from 1952. Ridiculously hard on students and unhelpful. He is extremely condescending to students and goes out of his way to make your life more difficult. Don't ever take anything from him. Jerk.

Very nice man, but not so good at teaching. His tests are very random and his grading is COMPLETELY subjective. If you're good at BSing it will help, but don't take this class expecting an easy A. It was a hard B...
