Durnford is really just awesome if I'm being honest here! He puts in the extra effort to make sure you know down to the t what youll need to know. Definitely the best professor for an intro to bio course. He really knows his stuff and makes it as relatable as possible to help his students understand even the more difficult ideas.

He absolutely knows his stuff. I just found his lectures a bit confusing at times as he often went off topic. As long as you look through the textbook sections and do the practice quizzes, youll be fine.

You'll be reading for a week if you miss a lecture. Also, he goes off topic often. His midterms and exams contain a lot of straightforward questions.

He's very clearly passionate about the subject matter, but can be spotty to get into contact with. Following through after lectures by going over the textbook is a must if you get lost during his lectures.

Dude, I love this guy. I didn't think I'd like biology anymore than I already did but I guess that it's possible. He explains things extremely well and is quite funny, which makes this class the one I look forward to the most every day. He really loves diagrams so bring a phone to take pictures or a lot of coloured pens. Slides are 15/10.

He is a really amazing professor, he is so smart and explains things well however his tests dont exactly reflect the highly emphasized topics discussed in class.. He kinda catches you off guard with questions you would never expect. Which sucks because my GPA is now butchered. But seriously amazing teacher.

Dr. Durnford is very knowledgable and his lectures are usually entertaining. The midterms were very challenging and the final was tough as well, but if you attend class and read the text book (DESPITE WHAT ANYONE SAYS, READ IT!), a great mark is possible. A lot of questions came from things he said in class, so take notes and listen!

Comment:
Midterms were too hard and a wrong measure of student learning. Considering that the majority of the marks came from the midterms, it was really frustrating to see that he purposely made the midterms harder than what was taught in class. Otherwise, he was fairly good for a first year bio prof.

Although I was able to understand the material taught in class, I found the midterms unnecessarily wordy and complicated. Over-complicating questions is not a reflection of learning. The class average going into the exam, which was in the 60s, shows that the midterms are not a good reflection of learning.

Most people have summed it up already: Dion is hilarious, helpful, and energetic. And hot. He truly makes the subject material interesting & inserts cheesy puns wherever he can. May start dancing in the middle of class. Extremely friendly and approachable. Midterms were hard, final was very fair. Definitely take him if you get the chance!

He is hilarious and the cutest thing. I was completely lost in bio 1001 because the first half was Dr. Clark and when he started for the second half, I got back on track. His midterm was harder though, but you can easily understand what he is talking about and he's very approachable.
