Funny guy but jokes dont help you learn. Hes really hard to understand which is fine but he overreacts sometimes. Please dont take his classes unless you want to teach yourself algorithms for months only to get yelled at.

Very knowledgeable professor, but does not provide notes or solutions to the assignments. Assignments will be very tough, definitely read the book before even attempting them. Do not search for any answers in Google, because you will be wasting time, you wont find answers! Work real hard to pass, but you will definitely learn in his class.

Boris missed the calling of being a comedian, but then again his humor is better suited to CS students than to the general public. Sadly, he gets stuck with students who have to take CompGeo to fulfill their Theory req and thus don't care! Result: sad class, sad Boris. Lots of HW (that he writes himself!), project, easy A if you put in decent work.

This is a tricky course but Professor Boris is reasonably clear with his explanations. The problems on his assignments will make you think a lot (google won't help) - but he's always willing to make sure you understand things provided you ask!

Good Professor.. If you really want to learn and not doing it for credits only then take his course. Its a important subject.. Unless you put your efforts, you will not get good grades.. His assignments are unique, he will make you learn better through his assignments. You must do them on your own to understand it clearly.

Very open minded and helpful. His assignments are very good and challenging [You can not get direct answers from google]. Open book exams, toughness is mostly balanced. Very helpful with projects.

I never learned anything from his class, but the topics that he covered were good. I just used video lectures of other professors or youtube to understand the topics that he tought in the class. But in the end, what you learned matters, not how.

His class is not easy, and you need work hard. If you don't understand his lecture, try to do some research. His grading is fair, curves a lot. But still, you need do your work and he uses online discussion board. That is useful as well.

I think this guy is the most underrated in the entire school. First the material he teaches is very abstract and not many people have the imagination to comprehend that level of abstraction. And for this dry material he was managing cracking jokes. That was pretty fascinating and for me personally is a sign of his deep understanding of the material

Good course, good material. Goes on funny tangents during lecture -- it's not for everyone but it certainly keeps the lecture interesting and gives a little more insight into the material. Followed the book fairly closely. Exams are a bit long but not hard. But apparently they are because median tends to be less than 50%. Passes everyone though.
