Norm is hands down the best prof I've had at MUN! He genuinely wants to see his students succeed and is always willing to help. I've taken 3 courses with him and they were all excellent. He's a fair grader and his lectures are interesting! Wish I could have taken more courses with him this semester!!

His material is straight forward. He is very blunt in emails but not in a disrespectful way. He also grades at a super speed. If you put in the work and have basic reasoning skills, he is good for GEO 1050.

lectures are short which is good. Quizzes are fair, but the assignments are 95% focused on testing your argumentative writing (CREW) model understanding instead of testing your course knowledge which makes zero sense. Also he is very unhelpful & rude in emails and respond with bare minimum.

Highly recommend taking a course with Norm Catto! He's a very fair grader! Although the course was online, he is very easy to reach! The course material is dry, but he was very good at making it exciting and goes the extra mile to explain things! My favourite video was when he interviewed a dairy farmer in NL!

The course is easy and his lectures are pretty simple to follow. If youre not one to email profs questions youll have no troubles, but I found he could come off a bit rude and condescending when Id ask a question. Class was weekly quizzes (search the course and you can find them online) and 4 assignments which are graded pretty fairly.

Dr. Catto is a very solid choice if you are looking for a good geo prof. He is very caring and understanding towards his students. He genuinely wants you to succeed in his courses, and life in general. He's such a great person and his jokes are pretty funny. He was a breath of fresh air for a 9am lecture, it was worth going to class.

Easiest course I've ever taken. I really should have failed this course based on my attendance and effort, but i swear it is literally impossible to fail. He gives you all questions for the exams and is very fair when grading. Do go to class because there are occasional in class responses. Other than that and the labs it's a breeze.
