Absolutely awful experience. She gives Webwork assignments, easily 8 hours to complete, if you can even finish. Lectures are long and not useful. 20 minutes of algebraic manipulation of formulas, which she seems to love, and then 2-3 minutes of concrete examples. Uses "intuitively" a lot but I don't think she knows what that means. 4 exams + Final.

She made her own textbook that was covered in errors and she gave excessive homework. I'm surprised people passed. When the semester was over I still didn't know how to write a proof.

Gives good explanations of the material instead of just showing you the formulas. One thing I didn't like was that we had to work on textbook problems in groups, and we were graded on it. I didn't feel that the textbook problems helped me much, so doing that felt pointless. Other than that, I enjoyed having her as a professor! She's funny.

She is really nice and great at math but expects too much. I have failed every test so far even when I do all the homework and all of the recommended problems. Hardest professor I have ever had and I have 4.0 all my other math classes previously. She is ruining my GPA.

Her lectures were very short and confusing, follow by time in class to work on example problems in small groups for a grade. Your small group is basically your teacher! If you land in a bad group, you will have a hard time. However, she does give many opportunities to improve the grades of your tests and quizzes, which is the only reason I passed.

Everything was needlessly over-complicated and un-intuitive. I get depressed just thinking about this class. I wish I was exaggerating.

I can tell she's a nice lady and a brilliant mathematician. But... she's absolutely atrocious in every sense of the word with respect to teaching. She speaks like a textbook without any coherence, does not invite participation when "lecturing," she is unorganized, rushes, and over complicates even the simplest things. Every day you feel tested.

Comment:
Not a teacher in any sense of the word. Her lectures are literally just a few example problems over new material. After her rushed "lecture" you work in groups to complete an assignment over that material by the end of the hour. Her quiz and homework problems are needlessly complicated. If you don't already know the material you WILL struggle badly

She is a kind lady, available, and very flexible with make-up work. Struggles to explain concepts in-class and often lectured very quickly with few examples. Would get disorganized (misplaced my quiz, even lost my exam once). Workload is average and rather simple, however if you don't get tutoring/already know Calculus, it's a rough class.

She's a very nice and kind lady, however very poor teacher. She lectures almost the whole hour about laws and rules, but doesn't do enough examples. Homework takes hours and hours to finish and quizzes are much tougher than the homework, plus she only gives a half hour to finish them, which is nearly impossible. Quite bland and boring too.

She grades super hard and wants you to show your work for every single step, even the painfully simple ones. She puts complicated problems on quizzes and tests and makes them longer than necessary. Nobody has enough time to finish them. She is also very absentminded during lecture and makes lots of errors, erases much of her notes and rewrites them

This is by far the worse college professor I've had in my entire college career, and I'm going on my second degree in another field. She assigns too much homework for the average full-time student, her test are hard to get done on time, and she is extremely disorganized. I advise against taking this class if you're concerned with your GPA.

She scatters around in her notes and gets herself lost, but we're expected to follow. Several times a day students have to correct her mistakes in the notes. She is a nice person though. If you need extra help she will definitely work with you and better explain lessons one on one.

Although a very nice person, and a brilliant mathematician, Dr. Hansen is extremely scatterbrained, and confusing. She often leaps from topic to topic, barely explaining the concepts involved. She assumes you know the terminology she is familiar with, even though some of it is obscureunused. In addition, she takes ages to reply to emails.

Hansen is one of the best math professors if you are looking to get a C and leave. You must show up everyday. 12 of the class is group problems from the book so make sure you have a good group. Her exams are just solving problems. For every quiz and test she allows correction that should push you easily into the C.

She does jump around a bit but she has really good handwriting so you can actually read her examples. Also she lets you do corrections on quizzes and exams in order to improve your grade which helps a lot she also has you do sample problems in class with a group so make sure you get a good group

Dr. Hansen may be very good at math but she is VERY disorganized and I don't think teaching comes intuitively to her. But she grades fairly for the most part. Only take a class with her if you already familiar with the topic.

Comment:
She did teach very fast and was a little unorganized. I took the class in the spring so she seemed to really move quickly. However, her exam averages were in the 80s and you can redo tests. After the redo, she curves the new average so she is very fair with her grading.
