Tests are extremely difficult and time consuming. Discussion posts are insightful. Overall maybe 3 exams, 2 discussion posts, and a term paper. Tough assignments considering the material but if you put in effort you learn a lot and he is super accessible!

Just want to say that this class is WAYYYY!! to damn hard for a into history class. Seriously. I managed to swing an A- in it, but to be honest avoid this guy at all costs. Way to much damn reading, Multiple Choice tests are too specific, and he grades essays as if they should be graduate level thesis's. You have been warned.

Hanson at first feels very intimidating, but once you get to know him the class is a lot better. Ask questions and go to SI and you will get a good grade in the class. Midterm and Final were easy. The only reason I did not get an A in the class was because I waited to write the papers at the very last minute.

Professor Hanson comes across as tough and scary at the beginning. The fact is, you will fail his class if you do not do the readings and participate in class. Participation is HUGE for him. Also, if you seek out help individually to show him that you are trying and that you care, that will go a long way. He's tough, but can still do well.

Hanson is the man. His class is not easy, but you can still do well if you write good papers. I didn't find his tests difficult and although he is intimidating at first you're going to end up really liking him. Also he loves you if you bring insight to the class.

Hanson is a great guy. He is very intimidating. Participation is KEY in his class. The take home tests are impossible, essay or multiple choice. He does not give extra credit. But, the class is very interesting if you do the readings beforehand. As a 9am class, it was very stimulating!

Very Hard! He only has take home tests but they are impossible! He lets you choose essay or multiply choose. Take the multiply choose, you will get a better grade that way, trust me, I learned the hard way!

Hanson asks a lot of his students for reading but if you can formulate intelligent comments and questions in class you can get away with not doing the reading so much. Absolutely hot for a man of his age and his wardrobe is always clean and professional. He's intimidating but if you give it back to him in a respectful way class is really fun

This man could run for president. Some what boring class but at times we had very heated debates. All test are take home so is the final. One group activity to teach the class. Not a bad class at all. Take him if you have the choice.

Even though I spent most of the class fantasizing about him, his lectures were always interesing and he never failed to make me think in ways I hadn't previously. Very intelligent, very passionate about history, very good guy. Sexiest smile EVER. For an older guy, he really made me want to... ;)

Hanson is brilliant. I love him. His class is really interesting and it's not hard if you pay attention and occasionally read. The tests are take home..but the essays are a lot easier than the multiple choice.

Loved his class. Demands a lot of participation (wants to know what we do if we had the dilemma today), but the class was interesting and thought provoking. Tests weren't hard. Really cares about students a lot.

You'll do well if you show up to class, participate, and read. Sometimes it's a lot to read, but it's not too hard. He talks so that's it's easy to take notes on his lectures, and he gave us the final exam essay questions beforehand and let us bring in twelve notecards with notes on them. Nice guy and really smart.
