Comment:
Tomas is so funny and such a caring professor! His class is beyond easy, it's very laid back and he uses a casual lecture-style mostly including games and class discussion. He lets you retake the exams if you're not happy with your grade. I don't really know what else he grades... We did an online discussion one time, but the homework isn't graded.

He gives a few exams, but they are all able to be retaken. He is more interested in you learning the material than just getting a passing grade. He has a broad knowledge of the subject and is willing to work with you based on what skill level of Spanish you possess. In class participation is very important.

Love Tómas with all my heart! He is one of the greatest professors I've ever had a JMU. He is so nice and easy going. Participate in class it is worth 40% of your grade. He is extremely passionate about what he teaches and I am trying to figure out how to fit another one of his classes into my schedule in the future!

Awesome man, very funny and passionate, truly wants to share his wealth of knowledge with students. Great individual, yet his class is unbelievably hard, lots of notes and class discussions, so much information covered, tests seem like they're straightforward yet they're very difficult. He lets you retake each quiz but the retakes are even harder.

Hands down the best professor I've ever had. I took his 308 and 385 and plan to take at least 2 more. It's obvious he LOVES what he teaches, he does it well, and his passion is contagious. If you take any Spanish civ/lit classes, absolutely take it with Tomas. It'll be the best class you take at JMU. Plus his tests are easy if you pay attention.

One of the most fun professors I've had. He's very laid back and doesn't like to just simply lecture, but also show you. The material isn't hard and he makes class enjoyable. Definitely take him if you need a Spanish credit.

Tomas is literally the best professor ever! He is so full of energy and makes class so much fun! He brought in Latin American snacks for us and was so understanding and helpful!! We had a class outing to Dona Rosa at the end of the semester. He is so much fun and really just wants you to learn the content. He is there to help! Take him if you can!

Tomas is seriously the best professor I've ever had a JMU. Very lenient and understanding. He made taking a summer class so much better. Consistenly well prepared with lessons, always shared cultural music with the class, and occasionally brought in food and drinks from the Hispanic culture. More helpful than the text and always in his office!

Great teacher. Has tons of energy and it translates into fun classes (and sometimes a migraine). He notices when you miss class, so go! (Students that miss >3 classes can't get an A). He's interesting and has lots of great pictures and stories! Take him!

High-octane teacher who always seems like he's on a coffee rush. His lectures are fast-paced but he slows them down for you if you go to his office. Tests are tricky, but you get to retake all of them if you want. I would definitely take another one of his classes if I weren't graduating! He's really great!

Tomas is seriously my favorite teacher at JMU. He loves what he teaches and loves to help you learn it. He teaches history of South America like it's a story, which is awesome, because he keeps you interested. He takes the last 10 minutes or so of most every class to show the class pictures, which are hilarious. You can retake all of the tests!
