Comment:
When it comes to an online class and the class is mostly discussion, Cook will take it easy on you. He's not as tough and as dictating as he is in his other classes. Discussions are always easy.

Professor Cook is like Lotso from Toy Story 3. He's very welcoming in the beginning then you'll see his true colors later on. Whenever I submitted my assignments, I use to get him screaming at me at 2AM over something small he did not like with capital letters and 17 exclamation points. He's very rude when responding to students emails as well!

He never responds to emails, and is very rude when you email and ask a question. He thinks his class is the only class ur taking and is the most important class. He should be fired in my opinion especially during covid he is not helping people. He expects too much out of a UCC course. DO NOT TAKE HIM. I did everyhting that was required but got a c

Very rude and his workload is unreasonable. You have to write a two-page paper every week and have to do his dumb headers (that no other professor I've had so far has required me to do) or he will knock your grade down. In Zoom classes his mic is very low and when asked to move closer he simply says "he has the best mic". Love history, he ruins it.

Dr. Cook, I have no words. He has so much knowledge on many history topics, it's insane. From Fukushima to Chernobyl to another historic disaster that happened. You'll be so lost, but if you try to comprehend it, you'll understand him. There's a lot of reading, heavy lectures, group projects, and participation does matter! The class is very fun!

Cook is a very smart man with extreme knowledge in Japanese history. That being said, he thinks he is organized but is not. He will OVERWHELM your blackboard page with useless information, which you have to sift through to find your assignments. He has very specific rules to email him. He shows you the film, everything else is on you. Random.

the worst class thus far, he expects a case study every two weeks with online interactions weekly on a discussion board and you must post weekly about five times. Work is unbearable and his assignment instructions make no sense just like his lectures.

EVERYTHING IS DONE ONLINE! NO QUIZZES OR TEST. I show up to class and don't even take notes. HOWEVER, he assigns ALOT of online homework. It's not so bad always comment on the "respond" and "react" threads. Then comment on additional threads for that week and you'll get extra credit. Just post a lot online and you'll be fine. He is boring in class.

Extremely strict and has no problems arguing with students in the middle of class and will make an example out of any student that breaks any rule by mistake. Extremely unprofessional with using different fonts/colors for text/underlining to add to the confusing assignments. He is why tenure should be taken away from professors

Had him for Making Japanese Pop Culture. Nice guy, but expects a lot from students. 90% of class work is on blackboard, and he expects you to post in almost every thread. Not difficult, but definitely time consuming. Take this professor only if you're sure you won't be swamped with work by other classes because he will only add on to it.

Dr. Cook is an extremely knowledgeable, caring, and enthusiastic professor. I was lucky to have the privilege of taking his course. In order to succeed, you need to do the weekly readings, attend class, and participate actively. If you do this, you will learn a lot and have a truly enriching experience. Highly recommend!!!

Very dry. Fair, I suppose, not the worst professor ever. Just very very dull. Don't take him if you have problems with strict and boring professors; there are plenty other challenging and interesting profs out there.

Had him for Military History. It was a lot of work, but than again, it was a grad class. He expects you to read a book every week anywhere from 150-700pgs long. He is very long winded. Research paper topic can be on any related topic. While it was a lot of work, it was a very interesting class. I did learn quite a bit from Dr. Cook.

Theodore Cook is extremely knowledgeable and interesting. He is probably a little stricter than the average WPUNJ professor - but that's still not very strict at all. Highly recommended.

EXCELLENT Prof! Knows his subject inside and out. Including some of the contemporary figures personally. Extremely enthusiastic, sometimes goes off on tangents but they are cool tangents. Does require alot of reading, but its usually pretty interesting. Especially if you like history and world politics. Definately a great prof

This was my first online class and it was so awesome! The reading was that bad, and his assignments were easy. Got an A- in the course. Even thuogh he was in Japan through Summer 1 he answered our questions and gave us as much help as possible. Graded things quickly...Awesome!
