All the people here complaining about losing points for indentation, etc. The truth is thats what the real world is like. Style guidelines exist for a reason. Get a linter and set up rules or something. His course is easy. Hes a harsh grader, but the content itself is cake. If you cant hack it, rethink your major.

I was frustrated in this class because I got points off for stupid things like not indenting or my code was not in his preferred style. Liked the class, not him. Tests were easier than I thought and I really enjoyed the quality over quantity approach to homework. However, if you have the choice DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS if want to maintain your GPA.

He clearly knows what he's talking about as a programmer there's no doubt about that. The fact that he takes off lots of points because you didn't INDENT is what makes him a bad professor. Its either his way or no way and thats not fair. Even if your program works perfect. He also over explains things and is very slow.

Professor Nemes has a bad rep, however he is really one of the best professors in the department. He actually cares that his students become competent programmers and emphasizes logic. He has an edge and sensitive people will not be able to handle him, however to those who actually try he will respect. Bottom line, if you want to learn take him

Comment:
Prof. Nemes has his pros and cons, mostly cons. He's old, slow, boring and elaborates way too much on unimportant things. Your answers are never going to be correct in his eyes but try to participate in class anyway. His grades are kinder to people who actually ask questions even if he puts you down in class. Don't buy the book, use pdf instead

He's a tough teacher, that's for sure; gives hard but fair tests, demands you pay attention in class, and can be little harsh. But, if you do the work, try your best, and participate in class, you'll do okay. Get on his good side right away and you'll be fine. Just remember to ask questions and study super hard for tests.

Nemes' Is an old school professor as in has tenure and harassment complaints against him get dropped. He is uncaring and unprofessional more in tune with his ego and "wit" to degrade students. Lectures depend on his notes without external resources to confirm correctness or verify correctness of lectures. Bad modes don't make for great teaching.

Awful "Professor". Putting Professor in quotes because I don't consider him a professor at all. A professor is suppose to teach and inspire. All this teacher does is belittle his students and make you feel bad. Always talks down to his students. 0 respect for him. Doesn't even use the textbook but he still makes you get it. WORST PROFESSOR EVER!

Introduction to coding, just Java. He doesn't yell or anything but his monotone voice will put you out quicker than ASMR videos. Rude vibe. Definitely play favorites. Gives an assignment once a week, due the week after. Fairly easy but if you screw those up, you're done for. Oh, and he's going to ask you to raise your hand A LOT.

He is a very slow speaker who likes to explain in the clearest possible way and always starting from the origin of the topic. I took a course called "Database Management Systems" and never saw any during the whole course, he recommend us to use Microsoft Outlook in 2017. He has no knowledge about NoSQL, Datawarehouse, and PL/SQL concepts.

He is pretty rude and he doesn't really seem to care about anyone he also may be racist and pretty sexist. I'm pretty sure he grades everything based on how much he likes you. He also is pretty condescending and doesn't explain things very well. However, If you stroke his ego and speak in class you will probably be ok.

Very rude and he has no respect for the students. He doesn't have that much practical knowledge, but teaching more maths. His grading is very poor. Horrible professor!!! Don't make the biggest mistake by taking his class.

Very knowledgeable in his area but is unable to translate it into a classroom setting. No feedback on assignments other than a mark on incorrect answers thus no way to learn by mistakes. No tests but you do get a final project which in no way reviews more than a 25% of the course and is based heavily on knowledge taught in other classes.

He is a knowledge person? I'm not sure. Is he a good professor? I'm definitely sure he is NOT!!! He doesn't know anything about how to teach student. If you want to ask him question, please don't do that. He must think one more stupid student is asking another stupid question AGAIN. If you have other choice, please don't take his class.

Extremely brilliant and you will learn a lot. However, his grading criteria is way harder than it should be. You will literally have the same answer and he'll mark it wrong because it's not in his words. He even said that he doesn't give out tests because everyone would do horrible, hence he grades homework. Smart guy, but expect you to match him.
