Best class to start as a freshman with!! Prof. Chapman is a great instructor, gives interesting lectures, and homework is only to read for the next class. Expect a few pop quizzes and the midterm/final as far as testing. He is a great guy and really passionate about the subject. Definitely take his class if you are able to!!

Attendance is not mandatory but it is if you want to understand anything. Classes are usually boring and its easy to slip through cracks in this class. Still if you do the readings and try to learn you will learn because this Professor knows his stuff.

I took two classes with this professor decades ago at a private Catholic college. He was an incredibly bright light at this stifling, ultra-conservative little school. I credit him with an intellectual awakening that continues to this day ... His intriguing, provocative style and command of the material created a life altering experience.

Probably the best professor at pace, i went into this class not knowing one thing and left learning an immense amount. He is so knowledgeable in the subject and just broadens your way of life. He challenges you to think in ways you never thought of. I recommend everyone take him at least once before he retires!

He really does know his stuff and the fact that he's so passionate about it makes it even more fun to be in his class. It makes you more interested. He's sarcastic and will tell you if he thinks you're wrong but he'll never single you out and make you feel bad. He's awesome, I agree that everyone should have him before they graduate.

At first i did not like this class, i was confused and wanted to skip all the time. But i actually ended up learning a lot. He's really knowledgeable in the subject. Hes great to talk to as well and as long as you go and take notes you should be good. I would take him again.

Older, very knowledgeable about the subject. Really important that you do the reading. Attendance isn't taken and not all classes further clarify the material, so students are absent often. 50% midterm, 50% final, questions are given to you ahead of time (but he grades better if you structure them like essays with intro and conclusion).

Anyone who has anything negative to say about Professor Chapman isn't paying attention! What an amazing professor- and he DOESNT judge you based on your political beliefs, despite what some say. Everyone should have him before they graduate. A truly great experience.

I have no interest in Philosophy, so the class isn't that great to me. But man, the guy is smart and knows his stuff. Not the toughest grader. Just do the readings and you'll be fine. Two exams - one in class and one take home.

what a waste of a class... can't pay attention to what he is saying because it is soooo boring!!! He doesnt check attendance, doesn't give out hw or anything. until the end of the semester where he wanted us to do 7 three page essays in a month... it's ridiculous.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! I'm not sure what these other people are talking about but this class is totally pointless and we do absolutely nothing besides listen to the professor talk about nonsense. The midterm & final are both 40% of your grade and it is not worth it,especially if you are an Honor's student trying to get a B+ for the honor's credit

Professor Champman is a really nice professor. The class is pretty boring but it is very intresting and has made me see the natural world differently.. it is an easy class and he grades very easily, you can even get by with just doing the reading and just sitting in class. doesnt usually call on anyone who isnt willing to talk..

At first I liked this class...until I got my grade. He does nothing throughout the semester but talk and then bases your grade on just a midterm and final. They're take home questions but they're not at all easy and he grades them extremely hard because he's so passionate about his subject. Cares only about his opinion and not others. =[
