Great teacher, easy to understand, lots and lots of lectures, good sense of humor. Grade will increase based on participation in discussions ( aka get on his good side).

Dr. Brown rocks! I had him for Ancient Greek. He is very understanding that the subject matter is difficult and therefore makes the class more discussion and review oriented rather than assigning tests. A great teacher for a frustrating subject.

dr. brown is someone i would love to have as my grandpa. he's funny and a total genius. however he's not the clearest prof and he likes to go on tangents. did offer rewrites for all papers though which was nice. I hardly did any of the readings and still did pretty well.

Dr. Brown's class is definitely interesting and funny, he goes off on a lot of tangents but the class is very laid back. If you take notes and read the readings once in a while, you will be fine.

Very intelligent man, but cannot teach or explain concepts well. In order to get through his class you need to read the book and his notes. There are two exams and a final. If you get an A on the final, you get an A in the class. His exams aren't easy either but he allows make-ups. He also has a few extra-credit opportunities so take advantage!

Taking Dr. Brown's class should be a rite of passage at Pace. Get ready to analyze texts! He appreciates it when students show interest. If you find yourself struggling with his papers, come to office hours and ask him for help. Dr. Brown is very personable. Years of teaching experience helps him relate to his students well.

One of the sweetest people I've ever met. He's incredibly intelligent but doesn't care for bullcrap. If you are interested in philosophy, take Brown. He will change your life.

Very interesting professor. Can be 'boring' if you aren't that interested in the subject. 2 papers, Midterm, and a Final over the short books that you read. They are semi-difficult but he allows rewrites on everything so you can definitely get a good grade if you want one.

He is by far the worst professor I have taken here, the only class I have ever failed at pace, he makes the material so difficult to understand and teaches like you already know it with little to no help at all ... if you want to waste your time take him

As much as I'd love to complain about the monotone and lack of interest that was projected onto me in the class, I can safely say that I havent bought half the books, and spent most of my time on facebook and still walked away with a B+. Redo all your papers if possible and ask questions, theres no way to fail him. As for interest, ... nope

He's a good professor and he knows what he is talking about, but take his class only if you are truly into the subject, meaning you are actually interested and are willing to put in some extra work. His handouts are very clear and the text helps a lot. Oh, if you get an A on the final, you get an A in the course.

Really nice guy, very understanding. Important to make a connection with him so that he knows who you are. However, he's a very hard grader, and a little difficult to understand. I would only suggest taking him if you have some knowledge and genuine interest in the subject.

Very knowledgeable professor. Somewhat difficult subject matter, but he is very helpful and willing to meet with you if you ask. He also allows rewrites of papers if you do not get the desired grade. As long as you show improvement and effort you will have at least a B in this class. Takes some work (lots of reading).

You won't know everything before taking the class, so you will have to do some work, but he will always be there to help. he was more patient than he needed to be when students didn't do the homework we were reviewing.

I've taken him twice before. He is a good teacher, who really knows what he is talking about. If you take him for Logic be prepared to be confused for most of the semester though. . . He does end up grading fairly.
