Comment:
Professor Schaub's lectures were boring because he would go off on tangents all the time, and it was hard to know what to even listen to/write down. With that being said, he seemed like an overall decent guy, and the class is not to bad for a person who just needs lit credits. It's three papers (1,3,5 pages) and two midterms.

Most boring lectures. He never really discusses material/novels assigned. I only showed up because of the random quizzes given.

Weird prof. Calls out students when they leave early and asks them why they are leaving yet he will lecture on the free world... not really sure how I feel about him but good class to take for lit credits.

Prof Schaub was a great professor! He has an obvious passion for literature and definitely knows what he's talking about. Exams are very fair, everything on the exam was discussed in lecture and discussion. Grading is done by the TA's.

prof schaub can be a funny guy. he plays music at the beginning of every lecture. the books were hit or miss-a bunch were really good, a few not so much. grading is completely based on your ta and discussion is definitely helpful. overall id recommend it for an english course or if you need lit credits, schaub is great

Schaub is a good prof. He really knows what he is talking about and you can tell this stuff is his passion. Lecture can get a little boring but you read interesting books and only have to write two papers. one midterm and final. Try to get Sarah G for a TA. she's awesome and a fair grader. I would recommend this class for anyone who likes english!

Quirky old man. Very funny. Lectures are fun, although not always completely relevant. Grading was done by a TA... and mine was kind of a prick. Still enjoyed the class though.

Exceedingly digressive. Course title is almost completely irrelevant to what is focused on in lecture. Professor likes to ramble and tell stories that don't really make sense or connect with the topic.

Quirky old guy, obviously loves the books on his course list, but its difficult to know what to take from the books unless you participate in section with a good TA. Exams and Papers are no big deal, and class is manageable if you can get past his inane desire to connect with the youth of today by constantly reminding us that he, too, drinks beer.

This class depends solely on the T.A. Lectures are pretty pointless. Discussion is essential though. Your T.A. determines your grade for the most part. Just do the reading, meet with your T.A. for work on essays and you'll be golden!

Lectures are extremely boring but class is relatively easy- PROVIDED YOU HAVE A GOOD TA (mine SUCKED!), Schaub picks okay books. 2 papers, a midterm, and a final exam. The class would have been a lot easier with a different TA. Overall, Schaub was boring, but knows his stuff!

One of the best English professors I've had. He's obviously intelligent, but also laid-back and entertaining; some of his personal anecdotes are priceless. I know a lot of the previous commenters found such diversions off-putting, but I guess I prefer my teachers be more than pedagogic robots.

The best thing about Schaub, I'd say, is that he picks fantastic books. Though I was sad to see Housekeeping gone from his 169 list. He does tend to go on tangents, and oftentimes makes things into phallic symbols when it doesn't necessarily seem plausible. But in general, good class.

This guy is the most boring professor ever, but he really does enjoy what he does and so you would think that his passion for english would rub off on you...But it doesn't. 2 Papers, 2 Exams including the final...Not too hard just redicuously boring.

I took this class Spring of '05 and got a B without doing much work at all. You basically have to know your TA's grading style and you should be fine. As far as Professor Schaub, he's cool, tends to go off on tangents sometimes. He played music at the beginning of each class and I was shocked to walk in and hear Grandmaster Flash one morning. Made
