Comment:
If you take his class online, fair warning: he will not answer your emails. Other than that, he has a very hands off approach in the course. Other than grading your things, he never interacts with you. You could take this course w/o a prof and nothing would change.

Good guy, lectures can drag on and be kind of boring. However, the content is very easy and he's not a tough grader. I wouldn't have showed up if attendance wasn't 2% of the grade

Worst professor Ive ever had. Lectures are not only boring but only very loosely tie into information from the class. Will only talk about his experiences and not teach you anything. The whole class is only out of 100 points. He will not be present for his own office hours and frequently comes to class late and unprepared. Take a different class.

You don't need the book. Just google the graphs and save your money. Don't rely on him answering your emails. He grades hard at the beginning of the semester than it gets easier as the semester goes on.

Larry is a great guy, but is hard to follow sometimes in lecture. Do the textbook readings before class and it will be easier to follow along. He doesn't often remind you about any assignments, they are all posted in the syllabus so refer back to it often. Love him as a person but the class is very lecture heavy.

Larry Sych is by far the worst professor I have had. Im a sophomore and I am a pretty hard worker. He didnt put a single grade in blackboard for 12 weeks of the semester. He gave his first grade back for the first panel we got for week 1 in week 13 and everyone did horrible. Everyone based all of their panels off that one. Dont take his class.

Professor Sych is a really nice guy and you can tell he is passionate about the topics. However, he does go off topic quite easily during lectures. He is inaccessible when it comes to e-mail though, so if you need information, I would highly recommend going to his office hours.

Not at all the kind of Prof that I expect or want for a political science course. He goes off topic constantly, and is racist and ignorant. Would not recommend this prof for anyone. His lectures are impossible to keep up with.

Really nice guy, but never uses blackboard or his email. It's super hard to know how you're doing in his class because you never have any indication of where you're at. Also, the guidelines for exams, assignments and papers are not explained well.

Was extremely inaccessible outside of class, doesn't respond to emails, the course was extremely unorganized, lectures don't make sense, and is no help when preparing for exams.

Sych has lots of experience, but basically stinks at teaching. He goes off-topic all the time and gives no information about what to expect on exams, gives no information about projects/papers. He does not use Blackboard, never answers emails, and doesn't even keep a running total of grades. Avoid at all costs!!

He is a super likeable guy- I want him to be my grandpa. The classwork was manageable and he seemed to be really relateable and cool.

Dr. Sych was a really likable guy. His lectures are very wordy and he takes pauses often so they can be hard to follow. Overall, a nice guy and the class is not too difficult if you put in the work.

Many people dislike Sych for his drawn-out, wordy lectures, however, he's a super nice guy and really cares about what he's teaching. There is a lot of out of class work, but if you do it, a relatively easy A or B.

Sych is a good guy but SO boring. His lectures are a snooze-fest and impossible to pay attention to. In the WI class you take a lot of notes for hw but they are easy points, just kind of tedious. Other than that the exams are pretty hard, but he gives you almost all the questions that will be on it in intervals of 3 per class period so go to class.

Tough class, one of the toughest I've taken in a long time. Although the material isn't especially difficult, it pays to study. Graded reading notes add easy points

He is a good guy, very nice. But not such a good proff, DO ALL YOUR WORK and you can make it out alive, he talks alot and his lectures are boring and off topic, he doesn't give alot of clarity, but he tries to help best he can. No study guides for the test and no clear rubric for final paper. Get to know him and ask questions.

Tough professor. Sych's class will definitely challenge you, but that shouldn't discourage you from taking him. He knows his stuff, and it really shows if you meet with him during his hours. If you ask good questions you're guaranteed to learn a lot.
