Ronan is a decent prof, in PSY 220 you have 3 papers that are all very simple. Besides that, just online textbook assignments for each chapter that are very easy and you have unlimited attempts at. He posts all notes on BB so if you miss class you'll be okay. Very easy class.

Let me tell you that I didn't go to the lectures about half of the time. However, I did all of the work and took all of the notes, so it wasn't that hard to get a good grade. Make sure you have him check over your papers though, as they can be a bit confusing.

Great professor! Very willing to work with students, and wants you to do well in the class. Allowed us to choose whatever topics most interested us for our projects, which made the class a lot more enjoyable.

Comment:
Boring and VERY lecture-focused, which would be fine if it weren't for the fact that 90% of his "lectures" are off-topic and contribute very little to learning the material. All of his assignments, powerpoints etc are straight from Cengage. Get ready to fall asleep in class - stay up to speed by reading the textbook.

He loves his job and he LOVES telling stories during lecture. You can miss class all you want and still pass with a good grade because everything you need is on blackboard. He is so funny when he gets off topic and connects topics in lecture with examples. Exam reviews were exactly what the test was. 10/10 would take this class again

It's really clear that Dr. Ronan really likes his job and has a fun time doing it. His lectures are missable, because he tends to ramble and get off topic easily. I didn't go to many lectures because the online material covers everything you need to know to do well on the tests. Complete study guides with all test questions were posted before also.

Professor Ronan is one of the kindest and most caring professors at CMU. He is constantly trying to ensure students understand material. The class was very laid back and he bought us pizza out of pocket for the final exam. The class is not difficult and requires minimal work.

Professor Ronan does not know how to teach. He read straight from each chapter powerpoint every single class. I ended up skipping almost every class, because all the homework is online and the class was just so boring. He's a good guy, but a horrible teacher.

He doesn't give much direction or guidelines but the autonomy for this kind of project was nice. He lets you turn in multiple drafts and only grades for completion what you turn in to him. He is helpful but sometimes a little unclear but overall he was fine as a professor.

Your research paper will be long. He critiques your paper before you hand it in and as long as you make the changes he suggests, you'll get an A in the class.

Funny guy - I enjoyed hearing his ramblings. Although, he rushed through PowerPoint slides (almost in a list-like manner; he hardly ever read through the entire slide before moving to the next one). Not enough time to take quality notes. However, the book is all you need for the exams.

I was a favorite of his, using me a lot in examples and we talked...on good terms. I was at a B+/A- range and i saw my final grade as a D+...i emailed him, he said he lost my final exam. i got back to him multiple times and he blew me off...cool guy for class, but screwed me over!

No point in attending his class. All the powerpoints are word from word from the book. He just rambles with no point to what he is saying. If you are interested in Psych, I don't suggest him, his teaching will kill your desire.

Dr Ronan is a great instructor. Yeah sometimes he rambles but for the most part I enjoyed his lectures. He talks about the real world not just what is in the book. Always helpful and you can tell that he is very intelligent. He was always willing to talk after class if he wasnt heading out the door right away.

On the first day of Clinical Psychology, he told us not to go into clinical psychology and that it was pretty useless. He asks questions on the test like "What is Freud's birthday?" This is probably the biggest waste of time I've ever spent. Didn't study for one test, got a 77%. Studied for six hours for the next one, got a 82. Not helpful.

He is awesome to just go and listen to for an hour. Lectures are pointless for exams, but he talks a lot about real world stuff you don't get out of the book. He knows the subject well. Exams-just read book and take exam. Offered other projects if ppl wanted to do them. Lots of EC. Very helpful outside of class.

Comment:
Interesting class...Prof likes to rant and gets sidetracked very easily. Doesn't write his own tests, they come from the book. No lecture notes, no review sessions...Offers extra credit. Overall, a nice guy...funny to listen to, but doesn't cover subject matter effectively.
