Comment:
Lectures are incredibly boring. Professors insists on spouting his ill-informed political opinions ever chance he gets which only serves to pressure student to agree to his political ideology. Theorys that he teaches are questionable at best, at least at the 1000 level, even a basic google search will reveal major flaws in the teachings.

Overall, the experience was fine. Dr Ramp is very very helpful and will do everything he can so you do well. He seemed a little unorganized, but once he sorts everything out there is lots of detail. No tests, just a bunch of papers. There are multiple reading (around 100 pgs) per week.

Absolutely brilliant. It's like he swallowed an encyclopedia at birth. Whenever his mouth opens, expect gold, but want fish. That is: a genius, submersed in it. Absolutely brilliant.

He was late to every single class, and has boring, monotonous lectures where he just talks at you for 50 minutes with no supporting material or application. There is also a stupid amount of reading. That being said, he is ridiculously smart, and if only he would take the time to improve his lecturing style, his classes could be amazing.

The toughest class I have ever had. I loved theory classes theory was my life and I struggled in his class. Get ready to read and want to pull your hair out. He is a brilliant and nice prof but he changes his mind if you talk to him about you papers. His lectures are very dry and boring. I would avoid his classes.

Probably one of the best profs Ive had here. Yes, he is a very difficult prof, I've done pretty well in his courses, but not as much as I would like. Despite this however, I've never learned so much, or had so much motivation to learn with any other prof. Ramp truly cares about his students and does what he can to help them,

This class was amazing, he made the theorist easy to engage with. He was passionate and willing to help in any way that he could. Even when I asked him a question that was not relevant to any assignment and just interest based he sent me a long email with so much information. It was wonderful. He is a really great prof and he loves what he does

On Bill, Very nice guy. VERY Smart and well Educated. So Work your ass off if you want to make it with him. Find a way to understand THE THEORY... Remember theory is fun !! Bill often told us about how hard he had to work his ass off in his days in Toronto. Excellent Prof!! a bit hard to understand him at times but that part is up to you!!

Everyone seems to think he's amazing, however, unless he likes you, trying to get a good mark in his class is impossible. I met with him repeatedly to increase my understanding and got him to read over all my papers, yet he continuously marked me poorly. If you can avoid this class, do so. It's not worth the stress, and the info is irrelevant.

Extremely interesting man and class! I feel very fortunate to be instructed by such an intelligent, articulate person. I'm a Finance major, but will hopefully be taking more Sociology classes with Dr. Ramp in the furture. He works very hard to provide students with a meaningful education. He also makes every effort to help students do well.

Notes were detailed but tests were so confusing. Takes questions from side bars in textbook. Literally have to read everything in the text/notes/websites because bill WILL pull it from anywhere. Questions are mostly applying the sociological terms and examples. Asking questions is easy but answers are vague and not straight forward- makes you think

2200 is a bit difficult and Bill is a little tough with marking but is ALWAYS willing to help you and make sure you get a good grade. But even if you get an A he still has a lot of comments on your paper because he's seriously a genius, don't let it scare you. Bill is awesome, definitely take soci classes from him. Another chili pepper for Bill!

This class is insanely hard. Bill, however, is more than willing to help you no matter how overwhelmed you feel. He's very worldly, seems to know something about everything, and is one of those professors that, even if you don't do great in the course, you learn something amazing from. And hey, Bill? Here's your chili pepper! Keep on keepin' on!

I swear the man swallowed an encyclopedia when he was 12, he knows so much. Seriously though, he might be a hard marker and expect lots, but he's always willing to help and give feedback to get you where you want to be. And you learn a lot from him. If you CAN take his classes, DO.

Best. Prof. Ever. You will not regret ANY class you take from Bill. I could just sit and listen to him all day. TONS of readings, but ones that will blow your mind. You will grow as a person just by taking Bill's classes. A smattering of history, cultural studies, critical theory, economics, etc. in every class. I now understand the world.

Five assigned books in his third year class and four books in his fourth year; both classes were seminars. Lots of reading. His lectures don't strictly apply to the exams or papers. Yet Bill is very intillgent and willing to help. He relies on a multi-disciplinary approach discussing with anthropology, history and often philosophy.
