I took many classes at PC and this was the only professor that mattered with the only classes that mattered. I am sad that he recently passed away and Porterville College can never be the same. They lost their most intelligent and important professor.

Easy going guy who is really clever when it comes to playing devil's advocate. I never really understood his views on the philosophical issues we discussed. Can be tough on papers but he's pretty chill and he does make it easy to get an A. Funny guy too. I actually still to this day ponder the very things we discussed like a philosopher lol.

He was ok for the first weeks. After a while he just becomes annoying. Only reason i stayed in his class was cause its a pre-req to transfer. Its not about your personal ethics, if you dont think the same as him, your wrong. One of the worst classes i took so far. I hated going to that class.

I took his P109 existance and Reality w intro to phil within the same semester. He was a great teacher. Not at all boring. I've been to several colleges and has had a list of experience with hard grading rigid professors. I can say that Messchaert is a great Professor and the least of our worries. LOL Take his class you wont regret it!

I am greatly concerned about this professor's neutrality. I got the distinct impression that if one does not buy into his personal philosophy, one's grade would greatly suffer. That being said, I will not sell out for a grade, so I dropped the class. I have completed 48 units and never dropped a class until I took his.

Andy is awsome. He's so intellegent and eager to teach but not in that super-nerdy way, in a really fun, cute way. He listens very well and clears up confusing things very well, often with a hilarious story/example from his own life. It is crazy-fun and you will learn so much, seriously. By the end of the semester you'll love him and the class and be recommending it to everyone you know.

He is the most enjoyable prof I've had so far. I don't think I've had this much fun learning before. He is so hysterical and thus, effective. The tool story was priceless! He knows how to present material that is sometimes very confusing or complicated in an ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE and logical way that makes total sense. His intellegence and unrelenting sense of humor make you just want to listen to him all day.

He'll make you make him tell you the secrets to philosophy. If not, he'll teach directly by the book. You need to be prepared to ask questions every class to get the full experience. Over good teacher. I'd love for him to recite the cup scene in "The Princess Bride" though. He can sound just like Vizzini. "Thats inconceivable!" "Let me put it this way: have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?" "Yes." "Morons."
