Comment:
Dr. Chung is obviously very passionate about her field. However, not all experts should be teachers in their respective fields. She likes to turn what should be 5 minute explanations into 30 minute monologues. She is incredibly inefficient in the way she explains concepts and makes a surprising amount of mistakes considering she is an "expert"!

Professor Chung was one of the most difficult professors I've ever had. She has a tendency to cram more material into her lectures than can fit, so be prepared to study from the book and her powerpoints a lot. And go to office hours. She loves to see and help students, and she has the time to explain things thoroughly if you ask.

Professor Chung is definitely one of the best in the field of Material Science. She doesnt give you easy exams. You must work hard to get good grades in her classes. Shes always ready to help. Email her if you have any questions and she replies back very quickly. I really enjoyed taking 381 with her that I even took 435 with her as well!

Ms. Chung has the tendency to fly over powerpoint slides faster than any other professor I've seen. The key to doing well is to not stress over missed definitions/equations but to listen carefully to everything she explains in class. Prepare to take quick notes, but these and the textbook will result in a thorough knowledge of the course.

Dr. Chung is one of the finest Material Science professors the world has ever seen. She might not be that good in communicating the ocean of knowledge she has acquired over the years to her students effectively but she is ready to go over a topic several times if asked so. With 700+ publications, Dr. Chung is an inspiration to all women in STEM.

The practice materials/question she provides will slowly distance themselves from the material that will actually be covered on the exam. She flies through 60 page powerpoints and does not take a single breathe. She will leave you in the dust,do not rely on her questions-not the same. If you see her bring an orange folder to class- that means quiz.

Prof. Chung is one of the most intelligent people you will ever meet. With that, she seems to assume that everyone knows the same as her when Chem101 didn't scratch the surface of what this class is made of. I read the book inside and out, went to TA's regularly and still did't come out on top. She gives UB a good name for her research. Just beware

She teaches from extremely long power points (100-200 slides) then tests quite specifically on them. Don't be surprised if you bomb the first couple tests along with half of the rest of the class. Her pace is fast and her voice is squeaky. This is literally the first class of my life I've fallen asleep in. Don't skip class, she gives assignments

This class was much easier than her 381 class and there were only 2 tests and a final which were all pretty straightforward. Most of the learning comes from reading the books, lectures aren't too helpful. If you found 381 interesting I would recommend the class, its pretty laid back if you enjoy the material.

Very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. She lectures FAST, so pay attention and keep up. Posts all of the slides online beforehand though. Tests are quite easy if you've done the HW and practice tests. The class may be a fair amount of work as you're expected to know all the material, but it forces you to learn it. Would recommend.

Really not that bad. Just keep up with the course and you'll do fine. There's a ton of material but study the slides and do the problems she posts and the exams won't be hard. As hard as it may be, listen to what she says too...she explains quite well.

She is very passionate about her subject and does teach it very well! It is just the material is so boring and dry! She covers a lot of slides, be warned and like said before ANYTHING on her sometimes 200+ slides is fair game. Test are not hard, they are just memorization type tests; very little calculations. She is not as bad as you think.

Not bad, especially considering what I was expecting. Goes very fast as there is a lot of material. Anything in her powerpoints is fair game on tests. But, the tests are fair and don't throw curveballs. She posts practice problems and tests. Explains things well and easy to understand. Very passionate about the subject.

It's truly a lecture, so the class is rather boring. None of the concepts are difficult to grasp, there just happens to be a million different ones. She posts old tests and practice sets, at the minimum perfect them before test-time and you'll be fine.

Chung is the only prof who teaches this class, so if you need it, too bad for you. The entire class is constant lecturing from slide shows she made. and I don't know where she gets the questions for her tests, cause they're not in the slide shows. Plus, she even lectures on test days for 40 minutes before giving the test.

Her exams are extremely hard. The homework she assigns covers the previous exam so you technically don't study for future but past exams. Worst teacher ever, even worst then prof. Richards who teaches solids.

This is the worst class you will have to take in your engineering career at UB. The subject could actually be interesting but Chung is terrible at lecturing. I've learned more in the follow up lab MAE 385, which is a 1 credit course, than I did with Chung's entire course. There's a quiz every lecture because previously no one attended lecture.

Boring classes. There's a Quiz every lecture. Her format of teaching is very different than the text. If you wanna do well in the quizzes read her online NOTES. TESTS are somewhat tough. I still do not know where to study from for the tests.
